Was kinda crazy how amazing the sunset views were along the Tampa Bay coast this evening considering Hurricane Ian isn't that far away.
Thanks to Lindsey Lashbrook, Robert Mccall, Rachel Watson, and Rylie Gillis.
INSIDE A TORNADO 🌪️ A dash camera captured the moment an EF-2 tornado struck Pinellas County. At first, it just looks like a regular Florida thunderstorm...

We have been tracking
#Helene
on Klystron 9 and we can assure you that Helene is not making a hard east turn. We have drawn dots on the center of the eye every so often and its latest movement is due north. Overall movement will be NNE with the core passing west of Tampa.
POLK COUNTY TORNADO 🌪️ A Spectrum News viewer captured this incredible video of the twister that touched down Wednesday evening near her home.
Check out the damage it caused ▶️

Big drop in the storm surge forecast from Q-risq for
#Tampa
Bay. This is due to a more south track of the center. There will be an offshore wind from the eye northward.

Tropical Storm Helene has developed in the western Caribbean. It will likely become a hurricane tomorrow. It could be a major hurricane as it passes west of us on Thursday. Hurricane force gusts will be possible at our coast, but the Cat 3 winds will be well offshore for us.
3:30 PM SUN: Here is an update on the latest computer models on future Hurricane
#Ian
. The models have shifted back to the east this afternoon and closer to the West-Coast of Florida.
#flwx
Big decrease in storm surge threat from Tampa north due to the southeast shift in
#Ian
track forecast. Now the largest storm surge is going to be south of Sarasota

We can finally say good riddance to
#Isaias
. Check out the radar loop as the Isaias transforms from a hurricane to a remnant low as it exits the US into Canada.
In classic Florida fashion...a tropical storm passes and we get amazing sunset views. Thanks to Diane, Danny, and Jullian for these great shots from around the Tampa Bay region.

#Elsa
is looking much weaker all of a sudden. The circulation is not as impressive and the banding features around the center are much weaker. The lightning dissipated also. Maybe that dry air and wind shear finally took its toll.

#BREAKING
: Here is the 11 am Advisory on
#Ian
. As we thought, the forecast has shifted south into Southwest FL. More on
@bn9
and you can watch us live on or the Spectrum News app.
A cold front moves across Florida for the middle of the week with the cool air peaking on Thursday morning. There will be quite a difference in temperature across the state!

5pm Advisory: the southeast shift trend continues with the track. The storm appears to be headed south of Tampa and then moving across the state
#FLwx
A slight shift eastward with the latest models...if this pans out this will be good as it will mean limited time over open water so the tropical low won't be able to strengthen too much before going back over land in Florida.

A massive plume of Saharan dust is advecting off the African coast and will cross the Atlantic. We may see some vibrant sunsets when the dust makes its way over the Gulf next week. This will squash and chance of tropical development.
5 am Saturday Advisory on
#Dorian
....the trend of a turn north farther east continues. Very few computer models indicate that the center would cross the FL coast. With that said, E. Coast areas could still experience hurricane conditions. W. coast impacts becoming more unlikely.
The first freeze of the season looking more likely for north Florida while Tampa Bay dips into the 30s/ 40s. The typical cooler spots north and east of Tampa have the best show at dipping into the 30s Wednesday AM.
How about some good news? With the dry air being drawn in, the air is comfortable. At least makes it tolerable for those without power. Plus, it won't warm up too much today.

11am Update: Tampa Bay is officially in the cone for Tropical Storm Elsa...now a tropical storm with winds of 45 mph. We have plenty of time to watch this. Stay tuned for further updates.
#Elsa
#Hurricane
#Ian
will approach Tampa Bay as a major storm, but then start to weaken Thursday as it ingests dry air from the west and gets hit with some upper level wind shear

On this date in 1989, 30 years ago, one of the coldest weather events in the nation's history brought record cold to Florida. A dusting of snow was reported from Tampa to Daytona Beach. Agriculture was devastated with billions of dollars in damage.
