took today will have huge implications for the forecast into the Gulf of Mexico tomorrow. Computer models trying to recalculate every 6 hours but it is a tough forecast and this swing to the south and east may not be good for TB & Nature Coast. We'll see.

We made it out to Fort Myers beach this morning. There really isn’t much damage in Fort Myers until you get within about a mile of the coast. On the barrier islands, everything is gone. Many watermarks of 12-15’ surge. New construction did much better than old

5 am TUE - Track is shifted slightly east. The front coming down into the Gulf might help push Ian slightly east sooner. But it would be a stronger hurricane still. The exact location of the center will determine the storm surge for TB. This will be a long duration event.

Just finished 3 conf calls with the news managers and Spectrum execs from around the country. Ian is looking bad for our area in just about every scenario. The slow movement is something we haven't experienced since I've been here for 25 years. It did happen with Easy in 1950.

Wow, in our hurricane history (1851) there has only been one major hurricane landfall on the FL East Coast north of Indian River Co. That was Dora in 1964 in St. Augustine. Dora actually had a similar path that

End of an era. We’ve had a Baron Fastrac on here in our weather office for exactly 20 years. I just took it off the air for the last time. It has been replaced and pushed aside by newer software many years ago but now it is time to say so long to Fastrac.

Talked to my 80 y.o. aunt in Brenham TX this evening. She said power keeps going on and off. When the power is off she said she plans what she is going to do when the power is on. Last time she made warmed up some soup and cornbread. She's hanging in there.
