A new 'coffee break' for Haiyang Dizhi 8? SCS_News said it left for Fiery Cross Reef in the morning of Sunday 22 Sep 2019, local time.
After demanding Vietnam to stop “unilateral” oil/gas activities, Haiyang Dizhi 8 & 4 of its escort Coast Guard ships suddenly left for Fiery Cross Reef this morning (local time). CCG 45111 still remains in Vietnam’s EEZ. Hakuryu-5 is still in operation at block 06.1, reportedly.

As of 24 Aug 2019, the Haiyang Dizhi 8 was roughly 102 kilometres (63 miles) southeast of Phu Quy island and 185 kilometres (115 miles) from the beaches of the southern city of Phan Thiet, Reuters reports, quoting data from Marine Traffic, a website that tracks vessel movements.
Looks like the Haiyang Dizhi 8 is expanding its survey to an area much closer to Vietnam's coast. Graphic shows all operations since 13 August.
