Reflecting. No one knows this, but my move-in at Howard wasn’t cute or sweet. My mom couldn’t afford to send me to Accepted Students Day in the spring, so that August was my first time on campus. We were getting evicted back in TX. My mom sold all our furniture for bus tix to DC.

I gained a lot of weight in the last year & I’ve been very self-conscious about it. I’ve never weighed this much & I’ve been so hard on myself. But somehow I still see beauty in it? I see a version of myself who’s been surviving grad school, a pandemic, losses and still thriving.
