Living in a 1000 sq ft house in the Midwest is a cheat code for saving. These houses regularly go for around $75k. Small amount down and the payment can be around $500/mo including property taxes. Small houses are cheap to remodel. Easy to make your own like ones below.

There should be a % max of nightly stay price for fees, especially cleaning. People are just listing their place cheap for nightly rate to standout then collecting it in the cleaning fee. Lot of resources tell hosts to do this. Another search option for “by total price” may help.

This one’s in a small town in central Illinois. I’ve got my eye on two buildings though. One’s an old veterinarian office the other is an abandoned one room church. Use to restore historic buildings and have huge love of them and small towns. Always down to chat.

Renovating a house during the pandemic has reminded me that I prefer manual labor. Restored historic buildings full-time for a few years after high school. Feels good to step back and see a physical change.

This week marked one year in the new house. Spent from Nov. 2020 to Jan. 2022 renovating it with tons of Covid delays/price changes on material. Did way more work myself than planned, but did get some contractors to assist. Here’s another before/after from the progress last year:

I know of a guy who once punched another guy in a bar parking lot, and the dude he punched fell and hit his head on a parking lot and died. Dude went to prison for 15 years. No chance I’m risking if my or a loved one’s safety isn’t in immediate danger.
