I wish the big Canadian Jewish orgs would say this is obscene and un-Canadian.
I'll be surprised if they do. Why? Because it undermines Jewish victimhood. Because polarization benefits their power. Because some of their leaders agree.
Canadian Jewry deserves better than this.

I have a problem with Netanyahu, who saw and Hamas said in essence, "They seem useful. Let's keep them around for a while."
October 7th was policy failure of catastrophic proportion.
In 2009 Netanyahu promised Israelis to “overthrow the Hamas terrorist government”.
In reality, he built up Hamas with one hand and weakened the Palestinian Authority with the other.
A dangerous strategy that led to the Oct 7 disaster.

As a TDSB parent, this gives me such hope: the Muslim and Jewish clubs are able to meet and author to understand one another. I'm sure it was neither easy nor kumbaya.
We aren't combatants here. We are fellow citizens, literal neighbours, and yes also friends. We can do better.

I see it easily here in Canada. The extreme voices feed off each other -- what would they do if they didn't have the other one to scapegoat and incite against?
Reasonable people are the majority -- but we can barely get heard in all the noise.
A good moment to repeat this: the way that antisemites and Islamophobes, of all stripes and all over the world, are using this conflict for their own ends is nauseating.
