@redgierob That’s true. But I’d argue that the reading they do at home is very different to what happens in school. Gone are the days when children spend time “quiet reading”. It’s more structured and I’d argue kids don’t see it in the same light.

@redgierob The main issue is the time pressures and the impact on a teacher’s flexibility to react to their class or cohort. In past years, I could have changed my planning easily to react to my class and their reaction to texts/novels. Nowadays with more schemes and tighter curriculums…
