Madaxnimoy - A song on leadership- By Ubax Fahmo : The following song called Madaxnimoy (leadership) explains the different objectives that politicians have in seeking leadership. Addressing leadership as a person, it says:   O' leadership, people seek you for different reasons Some see you as a scary thing a lion’s canine and as bitter as an aloe gel, while others see you as a sweet honey to be licked.  Some see you as fearful as the oceans' deadly waves and storms, while others see you as lush green ranges that need to be grazed.  Some see you as a light that leads people out of the darkness, while others see you as a treasure waiting to be looted.  Some see you as a throne, a mirrored palace and endless partying,  while others see you as a time bomb tied to their hands waiting to explode anytime.  Some see you as a vision to be embraced to lead the people out of darkness, while others see you as a place of entertainment and singing! #Somaliland #13thNovemberElections #DemocracyDay @baruud

Obviously countries that value shared economic prosperity thru hardwork over free lunches like Somaliland, will no doubt welcome to see two of the leading lights of American statecraft & international diplomacy, as part of the Trump team that will lead America's global change!

In 2000 @TheEconomist highlighted Africa's doom on its May 13th issue cover as The hopeless continent, a decade later it celebeated Africa's economic growth as Africa Rising. And now, it describes Africa as the continent of the future.

In most of the world, the cover of this week’s issue of @TheEconomist highlights a special report on #Africa and the opportunity the nations of the continent have for growth, noting that “in the coming years Africa will become more important than at any time in the modern era.”

Spot on: "I'm tired of elites who destroy their countries and refuse to take responsibility for it. There is nothing I can do about that in a place like Somalia, but I can try to help the US government see clearly what is happening there, and adjust its policies accordingly."

Your post didn't pin any blame on Mogadishu's elites. It's a great example of one of Somalia's central problems, which is the apparent belief among political elites that the collapse of their country isn't due to their own incompetence and corruption, but rather to sinister outside forces. Somalia simply won't progress until that changes. As for Somalia being a "bulwark" against al-Qaeda, Somalia actually birthed AS then failed to control it to the point it became one of AQ's most formidable franchises. And no, Ethiopia didn't create AS, it already existed as a part of the ICU. Ethiopia's 2006 invasion empowered AS, but there was already a history of Islamist terrorist organizations in Somalia (e.g. AIAI). Furthermore, there are many conflicts and invasions throughout the world that don't breed terrorist organizations. AS is a symptom of a problem within Somalia's society. The idea that Somalia doesn't have a clan problem is absurd, as is claiming that clan issues are merely "identity politics" and comparable to issues in the US. And yes, I have attacked the hypocrisy of South Africa's ANC multiple times, including here: and here: If you have a substantive critique I'd be happy to hear it, but in the meantime I'll continue to note that while South Africa claims to be so principled it must pursue Israel at the ICJ, it also refuses to condemn the atrocities of the Syrian, Iranian, Russian, and Chinese regimes. The ANC trades on its moral legitimacy to succor its friends and attack its enemies. I understand the "white men" reference is simple race-baiting, but I have to ask: would you accept the critique from a black man? Or an Asian? How about a Hispanic? Hopefully you take my point--I don't at all see what my race has to do with this conversation. Finally, and back to the start of this post: I'm tired of elites who destroy their countries and refuse to take responsibility for it. There is nothing I can do about that in a place like Somalia, but I can try to help the US government see clearly what is happening there, and adjust its policies accordingly.

I could write a book in response to the Somalia ambassador's oped about why the US should "support Somalia's territorial integrity," but here are a few points: 1) his argument, like many similar ones, claims that Somalia currently has territorial integrity, & that recognizing Somaliland would break that integrity. But Somalia doesn't have territorial integrity. Shabaab still controls parts of the country, Somaliland hasn't been functionally a part of Somalia for decades, & Puntland & Jubaland defy Mogadishu at every opportunity. Arguments premised on a fiction are irretrievably broken.

Happy New year from Borame. Wishing you all a joyous, peaceful and rewarding 2025. Huge congratulations to Khadra Omar Sabriye and her team for achieving another milestone of supporting sisters in Borama. Her work is truly remarkable, creating a movement of sisterhood amongst Awdalies. It has been truly an honor to celebrate with them the celebration of the achievement of 21 deaf young girls that have learned new skills to support them in the labour market. Congratulations to khadra and her team for creating a platform " Halabuurka iyo hibadda Hablaha reer Awdal" that is ongoing for 6 years. Giving back to your community. #Somaliland Also incredibly to pass by the Sheekh Omar Goth, named after our ambassador @baruud father to mark his community service.
