We lit up the hospital blue last night, on the eve of the 72nd birthday of the NHS, in memory of all the people who have lost their lives during the Covid-19 pandemic
We've seen loads of pictures of rainbows as we travel into work at the hospital, and it really brightens our days.
So to say thank you for raising our spirits and making us smile, we've made a certificate you can print for your awesome child.
Our car parking is free of charge until further notice.
Please note that this will be piloted initially, and then reviewed monthly to ensure we are achieving the following:

Happy new year to all our wonderful staff and volunteers. 2020 has been a remarkable year and we wouldn't have got through it without your commitment and dedication to our patients and wider community. Thank you all for everything you have given this year.
Many congrats to our amazing Lead Nurse Louise Gallagher who has just received the 'Chief Nursing Officer - England Award for Nursing Excellence.' What a surprise for her at the 2019 Nursing and Midwifery Conference in Barnsley!

Since implementing our new analyser in June, our amazing Microbiology teams at Barnsley and Rotherham Integrated Laboratory Services (BRILS) have now processed an incredible 40,000 tests in support of the fight against the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Thank you for all your hard work
There are a huge number of people involved in any patient’s stay in Intensive Care, and James and our other Covid patients are no exception. It’s a real team effort...
Due to the rise in respiratory illnesses we ask that all patients and visitors who attend our Emergency Department wear face masks.
We also ask that the number of people accompanying patients to our Emergency Department is limited to 1.
Thank you for your co-operation.
Thank you to CC Interiors for donating a very comfy sofa which will be used in our brand new ICU Rest Room. This room will provide much needed rest facilities for our ICU staff during their shifts.
We continue to ask people to wear a mask when coming to our hospital - and this will also remain the case from 19 July. We have some very poorly people here so we must do all we can to prevent Covid-19 spreading. Appropriate face coverings are just one tool in our arsenal.
Our staff are hard at work providing vital care and we can not say thank you enough.
Comment your thank yous and we will include them in our staff newsletter.

Well done to our Respiratory Care Unit who were recently presented with one of our Brilliant Awards! ⭐
The team went over and above to support a patient who was on end of life care. The team supported with future plans including financial and funeral arrangements.
James has nothing but praise for the “amazing” care he got from the teams at Barnsley Hospital. He wishes he had been able to hug everyone before he left, and because of all the PPE the staff have to wear, he wasn’t able to get to know the faces of the people looking after him.
We understand that outside things are changing. However, our colleagues are still wearing their face masks to protect you, and we ask that visitors continue to wear a mask while in hospital too. Thank you for your co-operation - We are committed to ensuring everyone’s safety

We have now got a brand new children's ward, assessment unit and emergency department which is all modern and spacious to give us a 21st century build. Take a look at our photo album for more:
We can all do our bit to reduce the spread by staying at home, washing our hands frequently, keeping 2m apart and wearing our masks when we have to go out.
Our new ICU will enhance patient experience with more space, better lighting and décor, as well as enhanced provisions for patient privacy. All contribute to shorter stays, quicker discharges, and speedier recoveries in general.
A small but important gesture from our supplier of patient television services - Patient television services will be freely available for the next 8 weeks. 📺👍
Matron Ben tells us about the opening of the new Children's Emergency Department. He said: “The new unit is brill - it's much brighter and modern and will be so much nicer for children, I cant wait to open it"
