Really liked the fight the team showed in the second half. Got it to a 5 point margin w/ 5 minutes left. UCONN just really good. Great season, Aztec fans should be proud. They’ll be back here sooner rather than later.

It’s dumb how much time people are spending talking about the foul at the end. It was a foul. A soft foul maybe, but still a foul. As for consistency, they called LeDee for a charge when he did nothing and didn’t call Nembhard for a charge when he bowled over Trammell.

I have a suspicion that “calling the fouls the whole game” would’ve made SDSU’s MOV even greater. Every foul called on Creighton would’ve been more detrimental because they didn’t have the depth to absorb it.

Mountain West is 1-0 in the tournament so far. Happy for Colorado State. Happy for Isaiah Stevens and crew. 3 MW teams have won tourney games since 2014. SDSU, Nevada, and Colorado State. Hopefully a few more get added this week.

This is why SDSU doesn’t suffer from transfers the way other programs do, even with NIL. SDSU players coming is awesome, but Fab 5 guys coming to support their coach decades later is something special. Family and belonging is the most important thing.
If you want to know how much coach Fisher and Dutcher mean to their players, there are rumblings that 50+ former Aztec basketball players will be at the Final Four. Also reports the Fab 5 will be there 👀.

I don’t usually like to spread these kinds of rumors, but I heard (as I’m sure many of you have) that student athletes at SDSU were told today that SDSU will be leaving the MW. PAC-12 or Big-12 both in play. Announcement to come around the new year.

Reese Waters gets the AztecBreakdown player of the game award. He is so fun to watch, his scoring seems automatic, and hasn’t missed a free throw all season. His hot start has been key to the Aztecs success so far this season.

I didn't think Utah State would pull it off today. But that's more of a relfection of how good I think Purdue is. Utah State still had a good season, and did something no non-SDSU Mountain West team has done since 2018. Hopefully the Aztecs have a better showing. Won't be easy.

I said it last year and I’ll say it again, When Aztec fans say we run the conference, this is why. On basically a yearly basis, the tournament champion is either SDSU, or had to beat SDSU to win it. There’s something to be said about that level of consistency.

LeDee was truly amazing tonight. 27 points on 12 shots is stupid good efficiency. And the way he’d take the ball coast to coast is rare for a 6’9 guy. No ceiling for this young man.

Wow. I know it’s Yale, but Yale had better metrics than UAB, and the Aztecs dominated the whole game. Had a 30 point lead before garbage time. Really fun team to watch when they click like that.

What a great game. LeDee got to make a statement about the true POY. Team looked much much much better offensively. Butler has looked great. Trammell is a dog. Parrish found his groove. So many good things to talk about.

This is long overdue. Acker has been a great assistant for a long time. Happy for him that he gets a shot at being the head man.
The timing might also be great, as it lines up well for guys like Hutson or Howard to come to SDSU if they wanted.

LeDee has the patience of a saint. Everyone knows if he put another player in a headlock it would be a flagrant. But when someone puts him in a headlock, he doesn’t complain, just gets ready for the next play. Dude deserves major props for that alone.

According to Synergy, among players with at least 40 possessions as the primary defender, Lamont Butler is first in the nation in defensive efficiency. He’s allowed only 18 points on 42 possessions. Opponents are shooting 19.4% when he guards them.
