Saying I’m thrilled for this opportunity is an understatement. I want to congratulate
@TedLeitner
on his football tenure. I’m grateful for his support and I’m excited to continue to work together on basketball next season! Thank you, Aztec Nation. 🔴⚫️
"During that time with COVID and stuff I was really ready to just stop playing."
Powerful words from Matt Bradley. He said getting taken in by Brian Dutcher, and being welcomed into a brotherhood at San Diego State changed the direction of his life.
SDSU assistant Chris Acker just made us aware on
@JonAndJim
that over 50 former Aztecs that played for Steve Fisher and Brian Dutcher will be at the Final Four on Saturday. What an incredible bond.
The Padres will keep Petco Park open to ticketed fans on Thursday to host a watch party for the San Diego State Aztecs as they take on UConn in the Sweet 16, per release.
Viewership for SDSU's six tourney games:
• 14.69 million vs. UConn (CBS)
• 11.9 mil vs. FAU (CBS)
• 8.34 mil vs. Creighton (CBS)
• 4.37 mil vs. Alabama (TBS)
• 4.82 mil vs. Furman (CBS)
• 1.58 mil vs. Charleston (TruTV)
45.7 million overall. Pretty incredible
Darrion Trammell was named the most outstanding player of the South Regional and was joined on the all-South Regional team by Lamont Butler. Big time tournament for both.
Matt Bradley responding to a question as to whether this is a “boring” Final Four since some of the traditional names aren’t in it (and whether he finds that narrative insulting).
Lamont Butler said he can’t let six seconds define him after the heartbreaking loss to Arkansas in Maui and all he’s done since then is come up with memorable moment after memorable moment. Legendary stuff.
San Diego State and Creighton met last year in the NCAA Tournament, took a charter together to the Maui Invitational this year, and will meet with a trip to the Final Four on the line. Oh, and SDSU’s Adam Seiko and Creighton’s Arthur Kaluma are brothers! So cool.
Brian Dutcher earns his 150th career win to clinch San Diego State's first Final Four berth in school history. Like I've said for the last six years, he's as good of a head coach as there is in the country.
Brian Dutcher has taken SDSU to the NCAA Tournament in four of his first five seasons, including 2020. He's coached in five straight Mountain West Title games. He's 119-39. He graduates players. He puts players in the NBA. A long way of me saying he's one of the best in the biz.
