Where we differ is on the root cause - street safety isn't the issue here. I walk alone there at night & it's safe.
The root cause is financial. Safeway tolerated a lot of shoplifting & it wasn't making money.
The solution here is
Dean wants grocery stores to give a 6 month notice before they close.
But all the notice in the world won’t fix the root causes. Dean has had 4 years of notice that our streets aren’t safe.
6 months more will do nothing. And stores will keep closing.

This is Son & Garden at 7pm last Friday. Fantastic food, famous restaurant... completely empty.
They used to turn 120 tables on a Friday. Now it's 20.
One of the workers was crying because her car windows had been smashed. She doesn't make a lot of money - none of them do.

It’s supposed to be about Prop G, but says almost nothing about it.
The editorial completely misses the value of Prop G to our public schools… and gives no credit to those who fought hard over years to put this on the table.
