Almost certainly the song which I have been singing for the longest time. I first learned this in 1970 from the BBC Schools Radio programme Singing Together, which was a highlight of the week. The East Indiaman @TradSongTues

In Scarborough Town sung by the great Sam Larner This is from the Topic LP 'A Garland For Sam', and most of the tracks on there would fit this week's theme @TradSongTues

@thepeacepoet99 Yes, he just unravelled decades of trans activism within less than two weeks. Although, frankly, that's just the tip of the iceberg.

This is a very plausible explanation of Trumpf's actions
The plunge in the stock market based on Trump’s announcement of 25% tariffs on Mexico and Canada was suddenly reversed when he paused for a month. The market then surged back. This is the first of many vast insider trading opportunities for the Trumpsters who get advance notice about how Trump’s impulsive actions are going to be announced.

This is absolutely spot on
I have absolutely no issue if a “straight white British man” is the most qualified and gets the job. I have an issue if he gets it over a more qualified woman because he’s a “straight white British man.” Or if he gets it over a more qualified person of colour because he’s a “straight white British man.” Or if he gets it over a disabled candidate who’s more qualified but dismissed because accommodations are seen as “too much hassle.” Or if he gets it over a working-class applicant who outperforms him but doesn’t “fit the culture.” Or if he gets it over an older, more experienced candidate who’s passed over for someone deemed “a better long-term investment.” The issue isn’t that he’s white, male, or British - it never has been. The issue is pretending bias never existed in the first place and painting equity of access as oppression.

Not trad, obviously, but did ever a modern song better capture the language and feel of a traditional song? And what a sublime performance by Nic Jones #tradsongtues

@SiWright80 @LeapfrogMark @KemiBadenoch Yes, terrible and disgusting; but he was a British-born British citizen failing to integrate into British society, so why view him differently from the Dunblane killer or Yorkshire Ripper?

@dave_mcpartlin Well she's a Bishop, so I wouldn't be surprised if she does sometimes wear a cape... I agree with the sentiment though.

@wmarybeard @Arron_banks Let's just assume for a moment that people at some point in history did do something like a Nazi salute, before the Nazis adopted it. So what? We're in 2024 - the salute is now inextricably linked with the Nazis. Right-thinking people now simply do not do that salute.
