@nicomuhly @asvokos @TheaterFreiburg nico what was the menu item in houston that reminded u of my orchestration? “spicy flaming queso” I think? anyway “two boys” (accidentally wrote “two bots” at first) is definitely ripe for revival!!

I'm making a piece with Peter Sellars based on poetry by @jorie_graham. It's called MUSIC FOR NEW BODIES. Wow I don't have words for how excited I am for this one. See you next April at @DaCameraHouston @ShepherdSchool

@eyepitydafu didn’t he also tell a student pianist (not you) that his performance of a Beethoven sonata had too much “lipstick” on? What a spirit. RIP.

"The Impossible Art: Adventures in Opera" is now out in paperback! it's a book that has been described (by me) as being "like listening to opera without having to listen to opera." check it out here:

@Lynn_Nothegger The particular use of “oder?” as a question, after having asserted something. I like the way it opens up space for the other person to answer/correct you. It’s close to the English “right?”, but somehow (to my ears) more flexible, less defensive-sounding.
