Councillor Lily Cheng says the difference between fare evasion and getting a parking ticket is a question of intent. People choose not to pay their fares, but with parking tickets maybe they just ran out of time on the meter.

The TTC estimates that they'll net $7 million from increasing fare enforcement officers. Bringing back the Vehicle Registration Tax would've netted $55 million for the TTC. Shockingly, the TTC did not put up condescending ads shaming the councillors who voted against the VRT.

I ride the subway a lot. Not a week goes by that a mentally ill person doesn't get on and terrorize the entire car—especially women, especially Asians. Usually the men just sit there and pretend it's not happening. It's a disgrace that working New Yorkers have to live like this.

Pretty wild that our hospitals are (almost) all charities instead of being owned by the government. They have to pay lots of staff to do fundraising (asking rich people for money) instead of simply taxing them (telling rich people to give money). Very inefficient!

In my 12 years living in Toronto, I don't think I've *ever* heard of a driver being punished for blowing past an open streetcar door & endangering lives. But I regularly see people getting humiliated for walking through an open streetcar door & not endangering anyone's life.
