I have my criticisms of Tulsi Gabbard, foremost her abandonment of a relatively (by DC standards) decent position on Israel-Palestine to join the MAGA camp. Yet she's also taken courageous, lonely stances and stood by them: challenging DNC bias against Bernie; the CIA dirty war in Syria; the OPCW's Douma cover-up; murderous sanctions on the Global South; and the proxy war in Ukraine. Because of these positions, she's been smeared as a Russian asset by the Democratic Party elite and their media stenographers. After years of malicious efforts to sabotage her career, it's historic that she will now oversee the same intelligence community that she, more than any other prominent US political figure in recent memory, has bravely questioned. In her brief remarks today, she drew on her combat experience to advocate peace and describe war as the very last resort, which I hope will define her tenure. I also hope that Hillary Clinton and every other warmonger who tried to destroy Gabbard's career with neo-McCarthyite lies was paying attention.
