A friend in Frankfurt said they have robust public health messaging to parents that "If you are overwhelmed, getting short tempered with your kids, it's not your fault, call this # for help." We both teared up. That would have gone a long way here I think.

My daughter's summer camp just announced that with 92% herd immunity and zero cases all session, they are going to merge the younger and older groups and spend this last weekend as one big pod, no masks. I kinda wish she could just stay there. .

This is really something. Policies in Germany prioritized children much more than did those in the US. Schools were closed for fewer weeks overall and other establishments--eg bars, brothels--were closed preferentially to schools, which didn't happen here.

That research needs to be specific+well-designed. Right now there are no established diagnostic criteria. The Times story doesn't include the concern of researchers in the Nature article : we are in a mental health crisis for kids and some of these symptoms track w/ that.7/.

Coverage of the Pfizer news on 0-5 should bear in mind: 1) only 28% of 5-11 year olds are vaxxed, so parent demand shouldn't be overestimated (that may change in time). 2) Youngest bear lowest COVID risk. Unvaxxed kids mostly safer than vaxxed adults.
