Role Model of Greenery on Road-divider Destroyed for Advertisement: Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is reportedly responsible for the destruction of one of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari's dream projects – a model plantation on Inner Ring Road (Hingna T-Point to Chhatrapati Square). Under Gadkari's guidance, Neelgiri and Palm trees had flourished, creating a beautiful and sustainable road divider, which he had frequently appreciated. However, on January 29, five individuals cut down these trees to make way for advertising boards on streetlights. Third Anniversary of High-Level Corruption in NMC On January 29, 2022, a resolution was passed by General Body of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) to terminate the contracts of two garbage operators, AG Enviro and BVG India, due to irregularities, poor-quality work, and massive financial losses. Yet, NMC administration chose to ignore this decision, continuing contracts with these companies despite serious misconduct, including: Mixing stones and mud with garbage, Failure to eliminate garbage black spots, Not collecting or transporting segregated waste, Neglecting daily garbage collection from households etc This blatant disregard has led to a steady decline in Nagpur's ranking in the Swachh Bharat Mission year after year, reflecting the impact of poor waste management. Shockingly, over Rsv400 Crore of public money has been paid to these operators in last five years, exposing deep-rooted corruption within NMC.
