1. Sun exposure can lead to pterygium, pinguecula, cataracts in the anterior segment.
2. Also can cause macular burns and retinitis in the posterior segment.

With due respect, I paid 2.5L for merely slit-lamp chair unit 4 years back. Add snellens chart, indirect ophthalmoscope, applanation tonometer, trial set, a-scan, furniture etc….. the combined principal amount will come to around 5-6L.

1. This is the left eye and the lesion is situated temporally, I would not expect pterygium as the first differential. It is more frequent nasally. Can you tell me why?

Corporates don’t entertain ophthalmology because even basic OPD needs equipment…. equipment specifically tailored for ophthalmology which cannot be monetised by other branches.
They earn from CT/MR imaging and OTs which can be used by general surgeons, laparoscopic surgeons,

Opthal and ENT are particularly bad examples of saturation in Private corporates. Corporates don’t need ENT/optha/Derma/Psych- these are predominantly private practice branches.
Corporates run on Med/Surg/OBG/paeds/ICU/Radio/labs- their demand is still there.

Mechanisms of Sphincter Atrophy in Acute Congestive Glaucoma
Ischemia: Acute angle-closure glaucoma causes a rapid and significant increase in IOP. When the IOP rises sharply, it can reduce or obstruct the blood flow to the iris, including the sphincter pupillae muscle.
Vogt’s triad for glaucoma:
