With Mario & Luigi Brothership innovating a bit on the regular attacks the bros can perform, we thought to do the same, but in a different way - if your jump defeats an enemy, the second one will target the enemy next to it, for some extra damage!

In our efforts to further spice up the Mario & Luigi combat, some enemies that react differently to specific counters, can then interact with other enemies too!
Here's one example, which was also our way of including the classic green shell bros. move in spirit!

Despite the turnout of the KS, we're still working on the game!
We spent some time further polishing the battle system, and are ready to show off another enemy and it's first attack.
Due to the slimy bodies of the Goouls, a certain counter works better than others!

In Mario and Luigi games, if a bro gets KO'd, you have to carry him while dodging attacks, which was often more cumbersome than fun- so we decided to do away with it. Instead,Tara or Vyn will just drag the other off-screen.
Also showing off the graphical overhaul for the sewers!

Our level up system takes from more than just Mario & Luigi, mainly Paper Mario and a few other JRPGS - when you level up, instead of a simple status increase, you get a few skill points that you can freely invest into your stats instead!

Today's screenshot saturday is a pretty big one - showcasing the Hammer and Baseball Bat attacks, and all five of their ratings! Like in Mario and Luigi, the better your timing, the more damage you'll deal, but if you don't press anything in time, you'll fail the attack instead.

If you'd like to escape from battle, after choosing the "flee" command, you'll have to withstand one enemy turn before you can escape. If you're a higher level than your foes though, you'll flee without issue!

Some enemies have entirely new attacks in those states, so if you play your cards right you'll be able to make them use only the ones that will be easier to dodge for you, inviting even more strategy!

We did notice that, and are going to speed them up to not have it take so long! The slowness was to let the players get used to the gameplay since they're the first enemies you encounter, but even then we overdid it a bit.
