Most animals, including humans, can eat a mixture of animals and plants. What names we give eating habits is near useless.
What really matters is humans have ethics, shops and the knowledge that a healthy plant based diet is good for us. Leave animals off the plate.
It's my 68th birthday today. My wish is peace for all the animals needlessly sent to slaughter every second of every day. I can't say sorry enough for my fellow inhumane beings.
Vegan:
I take a b12 tablet because it is a cheap insurance policy.
Non-vegan:
I take cholesterol lowering and high-blood pressure tablets so that I can continue to devour meat without falling over dead.
What is it about carnivores that they have no backbone? Any vegan who points out their inconsistencies for a second and gets blocked. The only way they can survive is in their own echo chamber.
Whenever I cook a plant based meal I see peace on the plate. That's very satisfying.
At peace with the animals
At peace with my health
At peace with the planet.
With nearly 2000 followers I am proud to be a vegan activist on twitter. I make mistakes in my tweets but the general direction is fine. I actively engage with those who spread, as I see it, misinformation around veganism and whole food plant based diet. Here for the long term...
@MargBarAmerica
Probably, nay definitely even more humane is not to slaughter the animal at all.
How can killing an animal be more humane than not killing an animal?
It isn't important to win or lose a debate on veganism. It's having the debate in the first place, aka keeping veganism high on the social media radar.
In the words of the immortal Oscar Wilde, "if there's one thing worse than being talked about, it's not being talked about."
Twitter is a training ground for vegan activists, if not the training ground.
Thank you to all the trolls for playing vegan bingo and making us better activists.
When a vegan makes a post about animals, why is it the dregs of the earth rise out of the mud to prove how inhumane they are - time and time again. Each trying to outdo the last with more and more ghoulish inhumanity?
No-one actually goes vegan. Going vegan isn't a change of mind. They just realise that being a hypocrite is no longer acceptable and they must accept they are vegan, now and forever.
In the abbatoir... "They're put them to sleep with an injection first...."
The complete wilful ignorance of this farmer is unbelieveable. Absolutely atrocious.
@LLSqueeze
Vegans by and large didn't stop eating meat because they did not like the taste. They stopped because they did not like the inherent cruelty to the animals, associated health issues or clear damage to the planet. So if they can mimic the taste that's fine.
@FlorioGina
Don't know if I'm attractive but when people spontaneously, month after month, tell me I'm looking young and healthy, well for at 67 Yr old I'll take that as a compliment.
Q. How do you know someone isn't vegan?
A. Don't worry they'll order a meat dish with a smile on their face completely blanking the pain and suffering caused by their choice.
Why do I engage over Twitter on veganism?
For the animals, of course. But also to learn about veganism. This is a long hard battle. So if there's going to be success I need to engage to understand veganism, how it's understood, where grey areas are etc.
And because it's fun.
@JosepRenee
@sarahkendray
Veganism is about reducing harm to animals, not about health. I think anyone who eats primarily junk food is wrong, but at least they aren't putting cruelty in their mouth.
I don't block strategically.
But recently, I've been subject to a concerted attack, totally baseless and factually wrong. But that hasn't stopped them repeating utter lies about my dead daughter.
I've reported to Twitter. But in the end, blocking is my only defence from poison.

@soul_eubanks
I was veggie for 40 years. Years of ignorance of the dairy industry I can never take back and will haunt me forever. I wouldn't wish this on anyone. Going vegan has given me peace.
@Toxic_Potatos
Unethical income is unethical. I am sure everyone who peddles drugs feels upset when they lose some or all of their business. But building a business that relies 100% on the death of others is unethical!
Vegan: this is the definition of veganism
Non-vegan: No, it's not because if that's true, I'd have to conclude to myself that I'm a pile of shite. And I'd much rather insult you.
Would cheese be so popular if the salt was removed entirely? For example cheddar has more salt than a packet of crisps. With the "ever popular" halloumi having the highest salt content. Why isn't salt content labelled on cheese, as it is on crisps?
@GeorgeMonbiot
Looking after my grandson I am faced with a barrage of farm animal songs & stories. Lovely in themselves but indoctrination of the first order. Very hard to find a book featuring animals that does not glorify animal farming.
When discussing veganism, all you're going to get are excuses for people being selfish. People will jump around from one excuse to another after the first fails. Repeat.
Be aware when they lose they'll ignore the loss, thinking just having raised the issue is enough.
A vegan "diet" can be healthy and usually is. But veganism does NOT mandate any particular diet. Eg a vegan can choose a raw diet and that can be challenging, eg oxylates, for some people.
Veganism mandates to NOT exploit animals where P&P. Choose your vegan diet wisely

The meat & dairy industry has been right all along. Beef, cheese, chicken all come with a nutrient that you simply cannot get in plants. #'Covid19. Freshly packed at your local meat packing plant.
Some estimates are putting the number of vegans at around 6% in some countries. 10% is thought to be the tipping point. I think you can see that tipping point beginning in the balance of media coverage becoming more favourable.
I stopped being vegetarian in 2016 and went whole food plant-based. A year later I understood the ethics and understood the word vegan. I use the word vegan to describe my stance against the inherent cruelty to animals. I use wfpb to describe the ultra-healthy diet I follow.

@DeborahMeaden
The whole food industry changes recipes all the time. Did they make announcements when the confectionary, biscuit & cake started putting high fructose corn syrup into products? I am very happy to support legislation to make for better labelling, recipe updates.
Don't tell me you are an ex-vegan when you clearly never had animal rights at the core of your thinking. So that's 99.999% of ex-vegans gone, poop, poof.
Now if you had animal rights at the core of your thinking I want to hear from you. You are a very unique person.
One thing meat eaters don't talk about is healthy longevity. Their assumption is old age = sickness so enjoy meat now. They can't get their head around the concept of living healthy in old age because they have few role models.

Video secretly filmed aboard a fishing boat off the coast of California reveals how marine animals, including protected species such as Dolphins & Sea Lions, are routinely trapped & killed as bycatch in driftnets 🐋

Don't worry about such things unless you have a life threatening allergy to milk. This is a legal phrase saying the product was made in the same factory, not that it's in the recipe.
@SBakerMD
Vegans don't cheat. Non-vegans are the cheats. But of course, SillyBuggerMD doesn't know the difference between a vegan and a non-vegan. Well, there's one difference.
Non-vegans want to oppress animals because then it means that they, the non-vegans, have someone below them and so they are not at the bottom of the (mostly capitalist) heap.
Discuss.
Meat eaters are frightened to admit that animals have feelings. But they're faced with pet owners who reciprocate love on a daily basis.
We don't need to love animals to be vegan. But it's one wake up call to the shitshow that is the animal industry.
Wake up.

@Nameiseric71294
Actually he didn't say he was vegan at all. He did say he was a "voice for the voiceless", who happens to be vegan. This means he is aligning his ethics with his eating habits.
Do you have ethics, and are they aligned with your eating habits?
