It is not the best of times, the worst of times are still to come.
It is the age of uneasy alliances, it is the age of isolationism.
It is the epoch of climate crisis, it is the epoch is selfishness.
It is the season of division, it is the season of chaos. /1
Met a cardiac surgeon friend today, asked him what he thought about Johnson relaxing face mask rules. He said always do the opposite of what Johnson says.
I was about 12, when a man on the street asked my dad for help.
My dad did.
Later I asked curiously, “what if the man was lying and taking advantage of you, daddy”. /1
The United Kingdom does not have a migrant crisis.
The United Kingdom has a crisis of unregulated right wing press which likes to stir up divisiveness and hatred.
And most of all, the United Kingdom has a crisis of an irresponsible, populist, corrupt, right wing government.
My dad replied, “I have enough and can afford to be taken advantage of, but what if he really needed help and I didn’t give it. That would be a real crime”.
For me, even today, that reply defines and indeed answers all questions on refugees, frauds and all other../2
What was so bad about being in the EU?
Please nobody say that somebody in Brussels was making your laws because right now a cabal of cocaine drenched clowns are deciding whether you live or die and nobody seems to have a problem with that.
A group of parents at school pickup were animatedly talking about fuel shortages and queues at the petrol station. I quip “That’s what happens when you vote Brexit”.
Pin drop silence, and then slowly one by one- “I didn’t”, “nor I”.
Yup, nobody is going to own Brexit.
Dunblane massacre 1996,
16 children killed.
Were there rioters attacking churches or white men because Thomas Hamilton was white?
This kind of violence is being fuelled by far-right extremists like Farage, Robinson & Braverman for their own goals and enabled by corrupt media.
U.K. astonishes me.
It had everything:
Wealth, respect, and freedom.
Yet it gave it all up willingly for something that doesn’t exist and now it is on its way to lose everything and no politician seems to care.
When Boris Johnson and his cabal in power see things like “ungrateful cow”, “send her back” trending, do they realise the enormity of what they have unleashed in U.K. with their Brexit?
Today, Jacob Rees Mogg decided to lie on LBC.
1. The EU hasn’t tightened its rules because U.K. left the EU.
These rules were in place for 2 decades and now applied to U.K. due to Brexit.
2. The U.K. waters are more polluted due to shortage of chemicals to purify raw sewage.
The identity of the BBC presenter being investigated is not that important a news. What is important news is if the govt has given all the What’sApp & other data to the Covid Inquiry by today’s deadline and what happens to the 10 MPs who threatened the Privileges Committee. /1
The only reason the Tories cannot get rid of Boris Johnson no matter what he does -
If Boris falls, so does Brexit.
And if Brexit falls, so does the Conservative party - for good.
Stephen Flynn is bloody impressive.
He called out on the Conservatives & Labour’s immigration narratives as false and slotted them together with Farage. He asked them all to stop demonising immigration and said that we need people. And he called out on BREXIT disaster. Boom!
Just confirmed with the deputy head of my boy’s school, nobody is singing any silly songs on 25th June 2021.
PS: it is also against covid regulations in school apparently.
BBC shouldn’t have to be *forced* to issue corrections.
The presenter should have willingly and immediately presented the facts to the Tory Minister on national television, there and then.
Germany inflation rate is 10.4%, France is 5.6%
Eurozone average is 10.9 % and the
UK inflation is 11.9%.
Did Jeremy Hunt just lie on BBC news, when he said, “the UK has lower inflation than France and Germany”?
If only the British public were as interested in what their elected politicians are doing in their country as much as they are interested in what Meghan Markle is or isn’t doing for their country, we wouldn’t be where we are now.
As a person who voted to remain in the EU,
I am not moving on,
I am not embracing Brexit,
And I am not accepting what this govt is doing.
Doing so would be accepting what is wrong, false & evil at every level.
If I am the last person standing between right & wrong, so be it.
Met up with a friend from San Francisco in Central london yesterday.
“We thought nothing could be worse than Trump”, he said,
“Boris Johnson just proved us wrong”.
Dear Diane Abbott,
Either you are a member of the opposition party or you work for free for the Tories.
Decide for once and all.
Oh, and same applies to you, Jeremy Corbyn.
The U.K. has had enough of the Tories and they have had enough of the Tory enablers.
Ta.
Instead of scrapping EU laws and regulations which work perfectly well in 27 countries, why don’t we scrap this Tory government which is not working in even one country?
Is it perhaps worthwhile remembering that the same government who is giving us “freedom day” tomorrow, took away our existing rights and freedom from our 27 neighbouring countries?
There is money to give King Charles a pay rise.
There is money to give law breaking & incompetent PMs a severance pay.
There is money (£500M +) to ‘incentivise’ Tata to build factory in UK.
But there is no money for NHS, schools & the poor to live with dignity in Tory Britain.
It took Brexit Britain 4 years to realise that being outside the union really means no special concessions from the EU.
I wonder how long it will take them to realise that no other country in the world is going to give them anything as beneficial as what they had in the EU?
Why are so many Tory ministers suddenly so vocal about Nigel Farage’s banking saga?
Patel, Braverman, Davis … what is going on?
Surely a private bank has the freedom to chose who they want as their client..
One of the school mums who is my local Tory councillor, knocked on my door today.
She said, I know your husband won’t vote for us but will you please do so?
I replied, my husband and I disagree on everything except - never vote a Tory, but I promise to recycle your pamphlet.
Can you imagine living on an island, constantly manufacturing conflicts with your closest land neighbour and then whingeing cause they won’t go an extra mile for you?
What the hell is wrong with Brexit Britain, is it that thick?
A message on my neighbourhood what’s up group,
“Hi All - is there any interest in organising a street party for the King's coronation? 🤔”
I wrote back,
“I hear the French had a lovely one in 1789.”
Radio silence 😔
Sajid Javid, “we are learning to live with covid as we are learning to live with other viruses like flu”.
No, people are still dying consistently, all year long with covid, average 123 deaths per day and increasing.
Sunak banging on about the 4000 jobs saved at the BMW Oxford plant by injecting £75M govt subsidies in it.
But Sunak completely silent about the 12OOO jobs that will be lost with high street store Wilko going into administration.
.. the fault lies with their govt for not effectively using the vast resources available to them, and not the refugees.
Please don’t make the mistake of thinking otherwise. /4
It suits politicians to make immigration and refugees a big issue because it makes their citizens emotionally insecure.
The govt that purposely underinvests in its people ensures that people are constantly insecure about their benefits and livelihoods./5
Steve Barclay ruling out a 10% pay rise for nurses as it would be an extra £3.6 billion a year which is unaffordable to this Tory government.
But the same Tory govt is able to afford the annual loss of £32bn due to their Brexit & the £30bn write off for Liz Truss’s mini budget.
Really, Nobody!
Really, nobody sees the sheer irony of Boris Johnson and his government helping the people of Ukraine fight for their freedom and right to join the EU, while taking away the freedom and rights of the people of U.K. to be part of the EU?
That evolution comes from awareness, education & by holding MSM accountable.
It comes from choosing good leaders and ensuring good governance.
Because right now the real threat is that govt who uses antimigrant rhetorics to win elections and not that under 1% of refugees. End
anti immigration right wing rhetorics that are flying around nowadays.
If citizens of developed countries feel that their benefits, jobs and rights will be reduced by 0.26% of asylum seekers (of U.K. pop. as eg) that live in their country, /3
Britain with a raging unmitigated pandemic and even more raging unmitigated Brexit, feels like such a wild and dangerous place.
Does nobody else feel like this?
Aww, YouGov sent me an email asking what I expect from 2022…
I expect the Tory government to be out of office, indicted and in jail.
Is it a too much an ask?
I don’t understand why Tory MPs are plotting to become the next Prime Minister after Johnson, it is literally like wanting to become the captain of Titanic when it was sinking.
Could it be possible that Sajid Javid didn’t have Covid?
Could it be a false positive test?
Could it be ruse to prove to the public that they would recover from covid in less than a week with minimum symptoms if they had the vaccine…so they should really go and boost economy?
I wonder if a Brexit passport can be introduced.
Those who voted for Brexit get the “full benefits” of it.
Those of us who didn’t, get all our rights of being a member of EU restored. (we will survive with ‘Brussels’ making rules for us)
Patrick Valance, “Boris Johnson gave up science when he was 15…
It wasn’t his forte”.
Apart from lying, cheating on his partners, and gibberish speeches, is there anything that is his forte?
When a political party in power is purchasable, it means the whole country is for sale.
It’s welfare, economy, security and democracy.
So the question is who really owns United Kingdom?
David Frost offering solutions on how to fix the Conservative party and the country… does he think everybody forgotten that he is the bloke who negotiated the worst possible Brexit deal?
I don’t know why the English think Boris Johnson and his clan is posh, is it the accent, their appearance or just that they have a platform where they spout rubbish?
Where I come from, they would be considered tacky, just tacky - the whole lot.
If we accept that Boris Johnson deliberating misled the parliament regarding breaking lockdown rules, we have to also accept the very real possibility that he deliberately misled the country regarding Brexit and its benefits.
It seems, BBC turning blind eye to Brexit failure and Boris Johnson lies has led to an overall slipping of editorial standards or has it got something to do with the BBC chair?
That government has direct access to the basic instinct of the majority of population and can manipulate it to their benefit.
But in 21st century we need to evolve from those basic caveman instincts and take control, otherwise we will destroy everything that is precious. /6
I have a very dear friend who voted for Brexit for no other reason than cause her husband voted for it.
Today we were discussing the cost of living crisis, Boris Johnson, Liz Truss, etc and she asked me if there was a way Brexit could be undone?
@implausibleblog
He is a troublemaker. I wonder who put him up to create unrest and whether he is getting paid for it? Rather irresponsible of him, he is actually making it unsafe for other Jewish people.
I was just thinking in the morning that it hasn’t snowed yet this winter and it started snowing. 🤗
Now I am thinking all the Tory MPs haven’t resigned yet… 🤞
“Love our neighbours as we love ourselves”, says the man who single-handedly and crassly took U.K. out of the EU.
Yes, that is Boris Johnson’s message this Christmas.
US, U.K. and Australia are three democracies who have had a surge in racist, anti-immigration and extreme right wing sentiments in their population in the past five years.
These three countries have a Murdoch media stranglehold.
If my history serves me right, most if not all revolutions start with shortages in food.
It looks increasingly likely that Great Britain might just get a ‘taste’ of their first ever revolution…
The MP for Calais Dumont, upon being asked what’s going wrong, “We have to do new checks because of Brexit and what we are experiencing is what will be our future on the two sides of the port after Brexit”.
Why is it so difficult for British politicians to say that?
For everything else there might be Mastercard.
But the look on Farage’s face when Jovan wins, priceless.
Let’s make it happen Clacton
Totally rooting for
#Jovanforclacton
It’s really interesting how Johnson could stroll naked across the London Bridge carrying a Russian flag in his hand and the whole Tory party would defend him in public but Labour cannot stand behind their leader on a single act or policy.
I wish there was one ‘grown up’, one honest person in UK politics who is brave enough to say, “Brexit and the Brexit deal is a failure. Rejoining the EU single market and customs union will really help our economy and growth. We need to do that.”
The journey from relevance to complete irrelevance didn’t even take six years.
Whatever in the hell was Britain thinking with its stupid idea of Brexit?
In the grand scheme of things, Brexit Britain is irrelevant.
Ukraine’s nearest neighbours in EU have opened their borders and homes for Ukraine
They might be poorer economically than United Kingdom but they have proven to be far united and richer in humanity.
So y’all know- if every remainer, every NHS staff, every person who can see this government for what it is- paused for a day in silent protest, this country would come to a screeching halt. Shall we give it a try?
Isn’t there something inherently wrong with a country where people who work full-time have to use a food bank while the MPs they elected have their food at the Houses of Parliament subsidised by the food bank users?
What Brexit really did? It’s worst crime in my opinion: It broke the spirit of some wonderful brilliant and decent people.
It shook the core foundation of their existence /1
