It’s how the big tummy shaming is reserved for women. Men are out there big tummy-ing & pot-bellying away but the shame is only reserved for women. And May god help you guys that do nothing all day than shame people for their physiques. Weird, silly trend.

Being fr is admitting that “some people” is in fact “some women”. Because men are not part of the people trying to rationalise cheating with y’all. If anything, they assume the worst of women (paternity fraud) from the get-go and have women work their way out of that assumption.

@ijay_wayawaya That’s sadly the way this will go. Benefit one or two “good” women in the public, and thousands of women will continue to suffer privately, because in the end, the system is not designed to relieve them of suffering and one-sided responsibilities in the home. It never was.

The issue is passing off choices made to navigate a patriarchal world as progressive choices. The distinction should be clear at the very least, because even the choice itself contributes to the hostility toward the few women who resist it.
@Mochievous

The issue is thinking that feminism requires making perfectly feminist choices in all areas of your life. It doesn’t and it can’t. Because to exist in a patriarchal world as a woman means constantly navigating through options you didn’t pick in order to simply exist.

I hope a lot more of you consider this nuance next time you argue FOR men about 50-50 in the home like the world has suddenly become egalitarian and women, outside of your own reality and good experience , are now being treated fairly.

@nonifauna I feel like there’s probably one grand experience that makes women decenter men, and then every other time, there are reminders on why you should decenter men in case you have forgotten.💀

If you are a woman who shares her man issues with male friends, please take the advice you get with a pinch of salt except you really trust the judgement of the male friend(s). Men typically extend grace to other men no matter what the issue is.

It’s never so much about the person who starts a conversation as it is about the reactions and sentiments it provokes. She may not be a progressive person, but there are progressive people aligning with patriarchal traditions in response to this.

So many things going on in this story. Reproductive abuse, divorce stigma, the audacity & hypocrisy of a cheating man, the leeway that religion gives men to marry more than one wife, the sham that is a long-lasting marriage without happiness, and so on.

Aliyu (59) and Mariam (53) have been married for 31 years. In this week’s #ZikokoLoveLife , they talk about marrying young, drifting apart 4 years and 3 kids after because of mutual infidelity & navigating the Gen X Muslim version of an open relationship.

A lot of our mothers embodied these qualities and more and they were still the “doormat punching bag”. It’s not a new concept at all, neither is it the ultimate solution to not being in this vulnerable position.

The idea is to invest in and support women who will go on to create a safer space for other women and marginalized groups at the top.

And this why I tell you people that the overtly sexual women get the short end of the stick as far as sexual liberation is concerned. A lot of “ be sexually liberal but not to that degree else you deserve some disrespect” energy.

This thing you people are calling "sexual liberation" looks to me like a response to trauma. But let's keep pretending. Lol.

You don’t become a feminist or ally as a man and then expect to start reaping the “rewards” of a fair/eligatatian society by 2pm sharp the next day. That’s not how it works. You people are majoring in the minor at a time women are picking being stuck with a bear over a man.

The kind of solutions we’re coming up with easily betrays this. There’s been more, “oh, I didn’t participate, or know someone who didn’t participate in this because of how stressful it is and I’m doing okay.” Process, not principle.

You ask where the relationship is going and they translate that as “pressure” from the woman, which eventually justifies their withdrawal. Meanwhile, when it’s the guy being persistent in a relationship, these are “awwww” moments.

This man’s wife has a scald injury to the chest and would need to be on admission for a week. And they are refusing admission because apparently the man can’t take care of the child for a week, and he follows it up with he can’t even make pap. 🤢

There’s rarely any man coupled with a woman who would remotely consider adopting the woman’s name or even coining a new family surname as newly weds. The meltdown on the TL to defend this choice by women should be a little more embarrassing.

Even Yemi Osinbajo openly warned, but Yakubu & his gang, including all those phuuls that stepped down for that calamity in Aso Rock during the APC primaries, must answer questions. They were all part of the rigging machine because nobody voted for him.

My own take is that approaching men first doesn’t necessarily make you “ in charge” if you still have to be proposed to, and have men determine the pace of relationships. It just makes you the one who made the first move and I don’t care much for that.

Your unwillingness to approach men you like means you are stuck with only the men who approach you. You aren't attracted to "confidence", you're lazy and the that limits your pool of candidates.

Across social media platforms, incels and misogynists still hold large followings, using their platforms to terrorize women and feminists while perpetuating harm. Yet the world and the owners of these platforms continue to look the other way.
