Get someone to highlight the good comments and go back and read those. People are cruel, particularly when their name isn't next to the comments. I'd like to say it gets easier and those comments gets less but after 9 years I've found it to be the same :( Hope u get support :)

lab with 1st & 2nd yr students who were *amazed* at how high the lung apex reached above the clavicles. I was shocked they didn't know until they showed me multiple diagrams in *good* textbooks. Medical illustrators & anatomists need to work together.

I put an "Easter Egg" in my practical manual to see if the students were reading it thoroughly. The prize winner just came to my office and collected her prize! :) She had to find a particular piece of neuroanatomical artwork in the building and come and tell me where it was :)

Today was an eye-opening

lab for many of the students, they saw a dissected
#clitoris
for the first time. Many were shocked at how "big" it was and its homology to the male erectile tissue. Yes, the clitoris has corpora cavernosa just like the penis!

Found this one by Mrs (should of been Dr!) Florence Fenwick Miller (1854-1936). Unable to be granted her degree but published an atlas in 1879.
Unsure of who drew the pictures? Check out her text on that!

What I've learned after 9 yr of teaching at university, is that students value transparency & communication more then many of us realise. Best surveys of my teaching in past 12 months when I've been open and honest about EVERYTHING. Trust they won't hurt you & you'll see beauty.

After 8yrs teaching anatomy to 4,000 students across 37 anatomy units I've learned a few things:
1. Students will like most teaching interventions.
2. Most interventions won't improve student exam scores.
3. Top journals won't publish non-significant, single institution studies.
Good idea!
