This excellent article adds an important perspective. But I would add that the scope of the EO ending birthright citizenship is much broader than the author suggests--the EO applies even to children of lawfully present temporary immigrants.

Trump's order ending birthright citizenship will require ALL new parents to prove their citizenship/green card status before their child will be recognized as a citizen. Every newborn is of suspect status until proven otherwise.
