Learnt something cool today - volumetric blood flow (calculated by velocity of blood flow x ฯr 2 ) in a metacarpal vein is only 0.28 ml/min compared to 5.44 ml/min in the median cubital vein Related, @Assoc_Anaes do great guidelines - watch for Vascular Access guidance soon!

@oli_m_sims I still remember on my first day at Addenbrookes doing neuro a consultant Dr Swami (circa 2007) said hello to me in the locker room and welcomed me to the department - he didnโt need to but chose to and it made such a big impact on my first day nerves.

@em_bulance It can be. MI different from sepsis, for example. Monitoring on its own doesnโt change anything, and assigning a member of the team to be with the patient leaves them unable to care for others. Balance of risks.
