in the video you pinned vitalik says that today most of rollups have backdoors that act as kind of training wheels for them. vitalik does NOT state that these backdoors are not temporary, in comparison with what you declare in your post.

This is what's utilized in my bridge design. Essentially, it is P2P. You find the best rate, send your USDT to the buyer, the smart contract on the destination chain finds the transfer using the ZK light client, and releases the funds.

I'm a rollup scaling maxi. I wrote lots of various material on rollups, their tech, and endgame.
L1 must scale. The job is not done until L1 does at least 100 mgas/s. This is a must for single-slot finality of stage 2 L2s and their infra, which is crucial for L2 composability.
Max Resnick is MLGA - a new sect of Ethereum that wants to Make L1 Great Again.
He thinks Ethereum has made a mistake by "giving up" on L1 and pushing everything to L2s.
I asked if he was trying to start an ETH civil war because his takes are...spicy.
But, is he right?

No, they can’t.
Coinbase Commerce is self-custodial. Bitcoin Script barely fits to its needs and most Bitcoin wallets don’t support custom scripts. Not to mention that onchain BTC is not feasible at low amounts.
LN on CC is not possible at all.

I've just realized that totally ignoring a project to sweep it out of the media is a tactic Vitalik uses fairly commonly. Have you ever heard him talking about Blast, Friendtech, etc.? No :)
Vitalik doesn't like it—Vitalik won't talk about it. And I think it works.
I take this seriously. Starting next year, I plan to only publicly mention (in blogs, talks, etc) L2s that are stage 1+, with *maybe a short grace period* for new genuinely interesting projects.
It doesn't matter if I invested, or if you're my friend; stage 1 or bust.

Important context:
Internally, Tron uses its own clock (not Unix) that's increased by 3s every block. Thus, all blocks are *reportedly* exactly 3 seconds between each other. Even if Tron has ever had a glitch, we wouldn't know that.
Just use Ethereum.
For many blockchains that experience downtime, stopping block production for hours or even days, the Tron blockchain has been tirelessly up and running for 7 years without interruption. Not even a microsecond glitch. Very impressive.

People are still using it. They're still spending a lot in the fees. They don't know about smart wallets and often use custodial services. The ecosystem is isolated, so there's no alternative.

Permissionless liquidity provision allows for better rates, as there's no centralized entity providing cross-chain swaps. Even you can lock your USDC to get USDT TRC20 at whatever rate you choose!
Then, these USDT can be sold back to USDC, recycling liquidity in the bridge.

People from developed countries don’t realize how huge USDT Tron is in the third world. Locals are forced to use exchanges and pay large fees to be able to use digital USDT and get rid of local unstable and regulated economies.
Ethereum could fix this.

it could just be me but it always seemed to me that many of those L2s aren't quite aligned to the ethereum goal, they're using whatever is hyped now without really caring about the tech

The characteristics of Tron's consensus mechanism allow us to efficiently generate ZK proofs for light verification of its state. These proofs, in turn, can be cheaply verified on any Ethereum L2, making it aware of Tron's state.

i did an zksync:ETH deposit to bybit 2 hours ago. the transaction was already batched and zk proven (just not yet executed), but the deposit is still not credited.
please don't tell me CEXs confirm L2 deposits after their objective finality. this is such a poor UX
