Kinda want to expand/pontificate on this from my POV: I studied abroad in Aix-en-Provence, France for a semester in 2010. I instantly loved it -- walkable, charming, lots to see and do, local & long distance mass transit (I went to Paris twice on a student budget!). 1/?

@NationalMallNPS Washington DC needs to get its act together. Open up parking, make it easier to get in and out quickly. It doesn’t need to be backed up all the time. Parking needs to become so much easier. You should be able to drive in and find a parking place to view the capital pretty easily.

It’s not a complicated concept. More lanes = more cars, which = more traffic. More traffic = more harmful emissions. More harmful emissions = more harm to our children and communities. I stand firmly against the wasteful $10.7 billion Turnpike widening project.

@jesserbnwtz Lovely benches! Not the weird airport seats like at Union. The benches have USB and USB-C chargers too 🥲

Wow these are some pretty damning stats about the car-dependent focus of @MDSHA @BaltoMetroCo Despite increasing highway lane miles by 76% with a pop that only increased 48%, congestion got worse. Waste of taxpayer $$$

@actfortransit We would have visited Baltimore more if the Camden line ran on the weekends! Such a missed opportunity for the city and state :(

Why do we need to spend $60K on this? The street was just opened to people last weekend and was a great success. Just open it and see how it goes.

The street in front of Takoma Bev Co in Takoma Park has been closed for a streatery for almost three years. Now a $60,000 study will look at whether to close the other side of the street to create a full pedestrian plaza on Laurel Ave.

They're outmaneuvering safe streets advocates. Where is our ground game to hit up local businesses to stand FOR the changes? If anyone wants to start something with me...

I'd really like to know what his ideas are for curbing speeding in DC. Really trying to wrap my head around removing almost all accountability for dangerous driving, especially after a record high traffic deaths in 2023. This is so shameful.

Email incoming shortly requesting you strike the removal of the Daiyaka streeterie and the moving of the bus stop. These requests are petty (streeterie), classist (bus stop), and not in support of the interests of DC residents. @FixCircle

It will also continue to struggle with development due to restrictive zoning and top-down centralized planning. I’m not sure what it will take to turn the tide, but the county needs to have an honest conversation about how the government is holding back its own success. 3/4

Thank you so much to everyone who spoke out about putting in physical barriers on the Rhode Island Ave bike lanes in #CollegeParkMD . Council voted to begin construction w/o barriers but are immediately moving forward w/ a plan to add protection. 🎉🎉🎉 #BikeDC #BikePGC

It’s your professional duty to tell LADOT that a useful structure is impossible under those standards. You don’t accept money for something you know isn’t possible.

This first gen Sombrita was designed to get to work fast within the current policy landscape. To avoid permit and multi-agency coordination, it had to meet these City standards: be less than 24” wide, maintain 4ft clearance, be entirely on the pole, be durable, and be removable.

@swagg__R @dcpublicist @DCDPW That biker isn’t ignoring a bike lane and it isn’t illegal or wrong for them to be where they are. So I’m not sure what your point is. 🤷🏻‍♀️

DC’s Historic Preservation Review Board protected a non-historic parking lot in Chevy Chase – seemingly leaning into the desire (of some) to use historic preservation to override zoning and prevent development:
