Today #IITBombay students rec'd a mail about the amazing fasting preparation for #Ramadan. Entire Humanities department had a collective orgasm. The same professors and some left students had had a fit when a mere six tables were reserved for those eating vegetarian food. Anyone could use the tables, anyone can prepare veg, any caste, religion, gender. But it was called exclusionary and casteist and they roped in media and made an issue. Some activist students forcefully tried to eat non veg on those tables. Meet Shubham Patidar, a small YouTuber from Bhavani Mandi, Jhalawar, Rajasthan. He creates videos about illegal cow smuggling, how cows are mistreated, and questions Hindus about their inaction. The region is notorious for cattle smugglers. Recently, he made some videos about "gau mata" and a rebuttal video against Owaisi, who frequently gives 15-minute calls to action. Since then, local individuals named Salman and Javed have been threatening him. Shubham comes from a family of seven, including himself, with his father working as a laborer. He and his brother support the family by working in a local factory. Two days ago, Salman, Javed, and 15 others went to their workplace and attacked Shubham's brother. They have also threatened Shubham, saying they will kill him wherever they find him. In one of his videos, one of the accused individuals, who frequently posts threatening videos like these, can be seen threatening Shubham. Shubham approached the police for help, but they advised him to focus on his studies. However, to do so, he needs to stay alive! What kind of freedom of expression is this, where one community's members can post threatening videos with weapons in hand, but others are not even allowed to raise questions about genuine issues?
