New USDOT rules:
Passengers now entitled to *cash* refund if a flight is delayed or canceled. Kicks in at 3 hrs domestic, 6 hrs international, if airports change, connections increase, service class downgrade, or for accessibility reasons.
Today's new rule makes it easy for passengers to obtain refunds when airlines cancel or significantly change their flights, delay their checked bags, or fail to provide the ancillary services they purchased.

In New York the train operator leans out the side of the train and uses a wooden stick to select a route and set the century old signals.
No, seriously.
I'm absolutely in love with this automatic route selection system on the IJburg tram in Amsterdam. Inductive loops in the track detect the presence and destination of the tram, setting the route automatically and triggering the crossing warning when it's ready to depart. (1/3)

Amazingly, American is on day two of canceling a very small number of flights. Why was it able to recover so much better than its competitors?
Tomorrow is going to be another crazy day for US airlines. Systems are still limping back to life, and there basically aren’t any open seats between any major cities.
