In 1999, in a dissenting opinion, Justice Leander Shaw included 3 photos of the body of Allen Davis after his botched execution in the electric chair. This led directly to the abolition of electrocution in Florida.
@tzimmer_history
This is a multi pronged assault. The real goal is to transfer billions of dollars in public education money into private pockets. A lot of the worst stuff in Fla is to stir up outrage to cover for that. Fla republicans are experts in the art of the Grift.
@daveweigel
We saw Todd Rundgren about 15 years ago where he had stoplights on stage and the crowd was supposed to dance on green and stop on red. Nobody followed the rules and Todd kept yelling at us. I’m not sure he actually performed a full number. My wife still goes ballistic about it.
@GalvinAlmanza
I met Regina when she joined my PD’s office in 1985. We were trial partners for five years, she left, a year later we began dating. Married in 1996 and here we are in N.C. in 2024. And this photo is pretty much how I looked every day cept couldn’t grow a beard till age 50 or so.
@artemis_nieves
I once had a new prosecutor tell the judge he had to sentence my client to 30 years, judge asked the prosecutor how old he was. When he said 27, the judge replied “You don’t even know what thirty years looks like.”
@AaronParnas
In Florida, that would mean Ron DeSantis appoints all judges. Judicial elections in Florida have led to diversity on the bench, and also the only chance PDs (and Ds) have had to become judge these past 20 years.
If you are ever told you have the right to remain silent, shut your mouth. If you are told you have the right to an attorney, keep asking for one until you speak to one.
Brandon Lowe just hit a grand slam on the day that he is wearing Rays bullpen catcher Jean Ramirez’s custom cleats that he designed for Brandon.
Jean passed by suicide this off-season.
The
@RaysBaseball
honored him today with his parents in attendance.
What a moment.
My entire career was defined by my undergraduate education at New College of Florida. The school has long been considered the best in the state, especially for free thinkers. That’s why the Republican Party of Florida and its bully governor targeted it for destruction.
@ryangrim
Ryan, your work was instrumental to this outcome. Thank you. As a member of the Florida Bar, I am especially outraged by the actions of the State Attorney’s office in this case. This was a horrible abuse of power.
@robertltsai
This is the attitude of every judge I ever practiced in front of. They would act surprised then get irrational when I would actually represent my clients.

I have been thinking about Rev. Jackson a lot. His 1984 campaign was very important to me. People talked about “electability” then also, so a former V.P. got the nomination instead and lost 49 states. More lessons for us from 1984 then 1972 if you ask me.
@Scott_Maxwell
For comparison, I’ve been an attorney for 37 years and worked for the State of Florida a lot on criminal cases. My fees were always capped at $150 an hour, there were caps on the amount that could be billed, and that work was required by the Constitution.
@elhijodealli7
I was once in front of a good judge when the prosecutor sd: “Gotta have 30 years Judge.” Judge replied: “How old are you?” P replied “27.” Judge: “I thought so, you don’t even know what 30 yrs looks like.” Judge gave much less.
If you are ever told you have the right to remain silent, shut your mouth. If you are told you have the right to an attorney, keep asking for a lawyer until you speak to one.
@BFanAtl6
Certainly a beautiful place, I was born in Fla in 1961. That’s why it is so awful to watch it destroyed by those who offer nothing but hate and destruction.

is an insurrectionist who has refused to answer questions about her role in the January 6 attack on the Capitol. She has no business in law enforcement and should resign.
My alma mater, a very special place, was destroyed today without warning. Not only am I very sad for the school but this is also a landmark moment in the destruction of public education in this country,
@ASFleischman
Thank you for this synopsis. I defended 1/2 dozen dead baby cases. What I learned early on is that there is a whole industry that jumps into action to blame the last person with the child. I learned most medical examiners are witch doctors. Though I won several, I also lost one.
It is only fitting that their first act was to install Richard Corcoran as the new President. A lifelong

I appreciate all the engagement and interesting discussion. I graduated from New College of Florida in 1982, the school now being destroyed by

The current students are the ones suffering, you can help them out here:
Hey
@BillGalvano
do you really want your fingerprints all over this mess? Is that how you want to be remembered? Maybe your firm should run a conflict check before you take this on.
@jewels390
Third chair is responsible for client control. Keep them attentive and quiet, nudge them to stand when the jury comes in, give them paper to write notes to you. Don’t go up to the bench unless requested. Take good notes. Pay attention to the jury. Help with instructions.

@AlikiMoncrief
So Florida wants to pass a law that legalizes Florida kidnapping people in other states to ship them to other states, is that right?
I’m not sure how I lived my whole damn life without hearing this record before. Released in 1971, this is the last record from the original lineup. From start to finish it slaps.

@JimmyPatronis
Speaking of stealing from people, how’s the Florida insurance industry that you regulate doing? You gave them the green light to pick up their cash and leave.
Tonight I appeared on stage for the first time ever and in the heart of Nashville with actual musicians in the audience. I was awful but also a big hit
I was involved in Sarasota politics for 30years. This long thread shows SRQ at the epicenter of the insurrection and the tangled crazy cast of characters to be found there.

This is your worst take.
I have no opinion about Montreal but the Rays appear to be deliberately trying to antagonize the Tampa Bay fan base.
No other organization puts better players on the field.
No other organization treats fans worse.
I’ve known all along the destruction of New College was part of a real estate deal—the only question is what kind? My prediction is that the college is closed and the entire campus redeveloped within a decade.
@emgbar
I taught seminars with 20 students or less. Every student was required to participate in every class. Every student had to make formal presentations along the way. There was no final. Class participation was everything. Women kicked ass.
We heard from countless examiners frustrated the 8/19 online bar exam software is overrun w/tech & security issues ignored by FBBE. Now we're urging
@flcourts
to offer alternatives to get FL's newest lawyers into the field, without sacrificing the integrity of the legal practice.

has been an unmitigated partisan disaster for Florida. I want her to answer questions about her involvement in the insurrection of 1/6. I want her to say why she won’t protect school board members facing threats of violence. I want her to resign.

Opinion was 12/2/2020 but honestly shit like this happens every day in Florida. 9/10 times the appellate courts refuse to explain why they affirm.

Look who’s talking, you just lost a billion dollars of FRS money by giving it to

cronies. You presided over the disastrous collapse of the property insurance market. Mind your own shop Jimmy!

I am married to a criminal defense attorney and we each have developed a set of intricate alibis, clues and portents in order to either evade or ensure accountability in the event “something”happens.
