This is par the course for Jay-Z. He's always been a self-centered Black capitalist looking out for himself who knows how to manipulate pro-Black, faux-Garveyite lingo to justify what he's doing to the Black masses.
Jay Z sells majority of Tidal to Jack Dorsey’s tech company Square for $297 million. Jay Z bought the company in 2015 for $56 million 🖤

Socialism means workers own the means of production. In the U.S., workers do not own the means of production. Therefore, the U.S. is not socialist. Socialism is not synonymous w/ gov. intervention.
The US is a socialist state. Our government governs via a democratic republic. So we would by the most literal definition be a social Democratic- republic. Make does that mean in layman terms . It’s not if we’re socialist it’s who our socialism benefits.

@lasaniaaa She's saying the quiet part out loud. A lot of white liberals think like this & are this paternalistic to colonized peoples.

No, the Democratic establishment did not GIVE us civil rights, votings, social security, etc. They were FORCED to pass those reforms b/c of grassroots movement pressure (i.e., Civil Rights movement).
The Democratic establishment gave us civil rights, voting rights, the assault weapons ban, social security and Medicare. What have you done Senator?.

This is what liberals don't get. They assume they can fight Republicans based on rules when the Republicans don't give a fuck about rules, including ones they've adhered to. It's all about taking power & holding on to it.
Mitch McConnell, who blocked an Obama Supreme Court nomination because it was an election year, says in a statement less than 50 days before the election: "President Trump’s nominee will receive a vote on the floor of the United States Senate.".

This is true. In indigenous African life, drums are a form of communication+storytelling. Since so many African ethnic groups were enslaved, they understood each other through drums. North America banned African drums but they didn't ban African string instruments like the banjo.
Africans enslaved in the British colony of South Carolina weren’t allowed to own or use drums because of its ability to “speak” in an unknown language and its potential to sow the seeds of rebellion. The colonials had good reason to fear the “talking drum.”

Imagine being a white man lecturing a Black professor on race & voting when the guy you're supporting got his political career started as a segregationist & is a major architect of the Drug War + mass incarceration, which devastated Black America.
@marclamonthill Imagine lecturing others on race when you voted for Jill Stein.

1) 80% is the majority, basically a landslide. Among men, Black men voted Dem the most. 2) It's the historic norm for ~80% of Black voters to vote Democrat and ~15% to vote GOP. 3) The "blame Black men" rhetoric is so fuckin' asinine, esp. when applied to electoral politics.
Once again, Black Women have showed up reliably to help save America from itself, with 91% supporting Biden. But only 80 PERCENT of my fellow Black men?. SMDH.

@PrettyBadLefty Also, those 18-year-olds were drafted to fight WWII. It's not like they had much of a choice, regardless of their beliefs. Millennials fighting fascism today actually choose to do it.

I'm actually well aware of the crime in the cities near me & even my own (all working-class Black/nonwhite cities) & I can definitely tell that the crime is related w/ poverty & socioeconomic conditions linked to systemic racism. Many ppl who live here know this, too.
Anyone tweeting obsessively about "white supremacy" should look into the cause of the last 50 homicides in the nearest city. You'll find domestic abuse, disputes over small amounts of $$, gang violence, revenge killings - a world far more complex than what goes viral on Twitter.

Obama didn't give a fuck about Black ppl when he was in office. That's one of the biggest L's his supporters refuse to take. The "Black president" never gave a fuck about Black ppl, Black issues, or a Black agenda &, sadly, too many Black folks didn't care.
If you’re Black and thinking about defending Obama, make sure you do so with the understanding that he would not defend you unless you were upholding white supremacy and the whites wanted him to defend you.

Let's get specific. @Blklivesmatter is the co-opted pro-Biden segment of BLM. @Mvmnt4BlkLives put a statement in clear solidarity with Palestine and most Black activist groups are in solidarity with the Palestinians.

@ByYourLogic To your point, this is something I've noticed playing small live shows as a musician. Not a lot of young ppl go out to live shows or stay out later. It's weird. I've had this conversation w/ other musicians & I've heard the same thing.

I recently started a new teaching job and part of my job is to tutor at a local juvenile hall. Over half the kids in there are Black. mostly Black boys. It's so obvious the carceral state systematically targets Black males starting from childhood.
How is it that Black boys and girls have similar experiences and backgrounds, yet, their educational attainments are drastically different? Many have assumed Black boys are simply not as goal oriented or that masculine socialization is the culprit. Fortunately, this study exist.

Just as how Black people invented rock music, jazz, rap/hip-hop, blues, etc. So much of American music was created by Black folks.
House music was LITERALLY invented ny Black folks. The genesis of house is generally tied to Chicago DJ Frankie Knuckles, and the name “house” comes from the club where Knuckles held a residency — The Warehouse. This ain't ignorance, this is erasure.

@ChampagneSharks Feels like hagiography. The 1st punk band was actually a group of Black guys in Detroit who started a band called Death & their music was basically the starting point of punk (watch "A Band Called Death"). Then came bands like The Ramones, Sex Pistols, Bad Brains, Black Flag, etc.

@della_morte_ I think that part of the "left" you're referring to is, deep down, very fine w/ the white power structure remaining intact. There's a huge chunk of the left that supports socialism (or social democracy) but doesn't want to challenge white supremacy b/c they get something from it.

@MuseWendi Seriously. It's not a hard concept to understand. I think many ppl are wedded to the myth that the U.S. is a "nation of immigrants" b/c it promotes some semblance of American exceptionalism that makes people feel good. Moreover, Black ppl & Native Americans don't exist to them.

This is a good example of why I often criticize non-Black progressive/leftist circles when it comes to race & Black issues. The ontological framework is wrong. Black ppl face economic & racial oppression; systemic racism includes economics. This is not hard to understand.
There’s a defining distinction on the left: those who believe in fundamental human economic rights and those who want a politics based on racial exclusion because of past wrongs. The latter has all the momentum among corporations, cultural elites, media and the highly educated.

@MuseWendi And by "Black ppl & Native Americans don't exist to them," I mean, to them, we physically exist but our particular histories+cultures don't matter to them and aren't worth grappling with.

This is what happens when torturers are not prosecuted -- torture becomes normalized.
The new @IntlSpyMuseum includes a section on ”advanced interrogation.” There’s a waterboarding kit on display, and visitors can vote on whether they think the govt should torture suspected terrorists to extract information.

I swear. why does it feel like non-Black ppl seem to have this conscious/subconscious obsession w/ Black men's dicks? It reminds me of George Carlin joke where he said wars are motivated by dick fear but just factor in race into the equation.
@notXiangyu It's a myth that all Black men are hung like donkeys. I've spent enough time in hospitals telling dudes that the split in the Hospital gowns GOES AT THE BACK.😉.

Great example of how the Black pundit/"misleadership" class serves the white power structure. Biden has a horrible record re. Black America (writing the '94 Crime Bill, opposing busing, etc.) but Dyson is singing his praises. Any serious Black commentator should criticize Biden.
Many of my followers across the country have asked me who I’m supporting for the presidency. I’m proud to offer my endorsement of Vice President @JoeBiden as our nation’s next president. This video explains why. I hope you’ll join me in supporting this worthy man for president.
