Have I told you about the Heavenly Choir at the Portland Oregon temple dedication?

As he began to speak, someone shouted, "Stop Right There!" A man with a briefcase and something black in his right hand climbed on the stage.
My Testimony
You know that part in We Thank Thee O God For a Prophet where it says, "We have proved him in days that are past."
I've had enough dealings with the Lord. And have had enough prayers answered. And have seen enough miracles that I've proved him in days that are

Thomas S Monson (Apostle 77) was only 22 when he was called to be Bishop. It was a happy surprise for most members of the ward.
For one man, who had served sixteen years in the bishopric, it was not.
He was very angry to be passed over.

Did you hear about the time Elder Oaks (Apostle 86) got mugged in Chicago? He told about it in General Conference when I was a senior in High School. I'll never forget that talk🧵. .
So of course I know a lot about Thomas S Monson (Apostle 77). He was called to the First Presidency when I was ten years old. And for a ten year old who thought conference was long and boring, he quickly became my favorite.
Funny, wise, told lots of stories.
When David O'McKay was 90, he was in his Huntsville home. The front door was open so he walked over to close it and then said to his daughter-in-law, "Vivian. Come here. I want to show you something.

We can keep talking about Thomas S Monson (Apostle 77) forever. And I actually kind of want to. There are many more stories. Each as good as the ones I've told.
But this project can't go on forever. He passed away at age 90. Having followed the Savior to the end.
When Thomas S Monson (Apostle 77) was a mission president, the missionaries hated serving in Stony Kingston. In the past six years there had only been one baptism. Serving there felt like jail.

Until Pres Nelson, David B Haight (Apostle 82) was the oldest living apostle. He died on July 31st 2004 at the age of 97. But he almost died 15 years earlier and while unconscious had a remarkable vision of the Savior.
I know the garment discourse on twitter is just starting but it seems to be shaping up to be like the argument of using the term Mormon vs Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
One side sees it as petty and unimportant and overly legalistic. (A squabble between two old
🧵Elder Henry B. Eyring (Apostle 92) was on assignment with Elder David A Bednar (Apostle 94) at a stake conference in Canada. They arrived too late for any advance study or even to confer with the stake presidency before the first session. 1/4

The world has changed. So have our hearts. It feels like a resurrection before the resurrection, doesn't it? Maybe it is. In a sense. The spiritual before the physical. (Moses 3:5)
A day to be spent running towards the empty tomb.
John W Taylor (Apostle 34) and his wife Nettie had a baby in the mission field. But Nettie didn't bounce back. She was melancholy. Tears came easily. Daily problems seemed a nightmare.

Since it was in such close proximity to the University of Utah, there was some friction between members who were orthodox and members who were liberal in their views.
When starting a new apostle I usually list the facts I previously knew. I won't do that with Brigham Young (Apostle
#3
). Usually I don't know much. But with him I knew too much. The thread would be too long.
David O McKay (Apostle 47) wrote to children an experience he had when he was a child.
"When a very young child in the home of my youth, I was fearful at night. I traced it back to a vivid dream in which two Indians came into the yard. I ran to the house for protection . . .

) was fatal. She was 20 years old, healthy and others in town had been just as sick.
Her father held her hand when her pulse stopped.
Orson Hyde (apostle
