Yes! Sing it loud! 🤩
Fantastic move by ALP government! They are clearly listening to what’s needed for midwives to work to full scope of practice. So beneficial for childbearing women to have that barrier to best practice maternity care removed. #NoMoreCollaborativeAgreements

@anmjaustralia This is so devastating and also a prime example of moral distress. It is so sad to see passionate and skilled individuals leave a profession in need because they can’t care for people in the way they deserve. Sadly, these stories are being told more and more regularly

@Academic_Liz @MidwivesACM @world_midwives @TTMidEdC Devastating, but not at all surprising. Comparing the burnout data collected in my last survey to other Australian research, the burnout rate is increasing significantly. Time to fix it.

Understanding the term #moraldistress gives #midwives more language to describe the psychological impact of being unable to give the care they know women babies and families deserve

‘Midwives want to do the best for their mothers, babies and families, and when they are forced to leave the industry they work in – it’s because they are tired, stressed, dissatisfied and frustrated. Not because they don’t love midwifery’ #moraldistress
