I’ve worked for 40+ years in a variety of jobs, including retail and fast food as a kid. Those jobs ended up being filled by adults worried about mouths to feed rather than a math quiz. High school friend groups ran businesses. It was fun, low stress, kept kids out of trouble, prepped kids for bigger things, kept costs low for employers and made customers happy. This thread is a dismal testimony of societal disintegration and spotlights the battle with the final boss: Automation. Spoiler alert: We all lose.
