I worked in restaurants from 14 through 30, just settled in at a salaried office job. It's night and day. My body doesn't hurt when I'm done work. Mentally it's more taxing but it's a big relief after so many years of ridiculous hours and physical strain.

Tried this per a marriage therapist. What ended up happening was his stuff was always all over the room and reeked of B.O. and I STILL had to wash all of the sheets and towels because he kept taking all of the clean towels so I was left with nothing to use. We split a year later.

I took weeks of Japanese lessons for travel before I went so I could communicate in restaurants/shops/hotels etc. You can’t go to a foreign country and then expect everyone to speak your language. It’s courteous and shows that you respect their culture enough to make that effort.

Literally taking Japanese lessons and my tutor has been correcting my pronunciation of loanwords because I was saying them in plain English instead of the proper Japanese pronunciation. People love to fuss over things that they know nothing about 🙄
