My smear detected pre-cancerous cells and potentially saved my life. If your smear test is due, PLEASE book ππ»
Having regular cervical screenings (also known as a smear test) is an effective way of preventing cervical cancer. Itβs important to have, even if you have had the HPV vaccination. The vaccination protects against the most common types of high-risk HPV that cause cervical cancers. But it does not protect against all types. This #CervicalScreeningAwarenessWeek donβt forget to book your smear test so any abnormal changes can be spotted as early as possible. Find out more information about cervical cancer , including cervical screenings π

βI rely on my scans. I shouldn't be ringing up my team begging for my appointments.β Jules was diagnosed in November 2021 with stage 4 lung cancer, which has since spread to her spine and pelvis. As her cancer is incurable, she relies on her three-monthly CT scans to keep her informed about her prognosis. She continues to live life to the fullest, but constantly feels she has to advocate for herself to get the care she needs, leaving her feeling angry and frustrated. βI am living life heightened where I'm so sensitized to my appointments being cancelled, and so anxious that my phone is going to ring with another cancellation. Itβs affecting everybody around me; my family, my friends, my son, they're all suffering. I have the disease in my body, but they are on the same journey with me. Governments across the UK needs to listen to us.β

I facilitated an Information & Support Community of Practice today, after a 3+ year gap! Forget how much I love facilitating face to face, after so much virtual interaction itβs great seeing people! Hearing from incredible @macmillancancer professionals is always a pleasure ππ»π
