@esrtweet This is like being in that fairy-tale & watching the moment people turn to each other and say, yes, the Emperor's new clothes are truly very nice. It's political theatre. The purpose isn't to solve problems, it's only to convince the gullible that problems are being solved.

@atroyn @heyellieday why are you being obtuse? The goal is for the information on who is doing what in the government to be on public record. That's what they want to "happen". By publishing, now it has. Gov't should be disclosing themselves but since they aren't, someone else has to step up

@madhatter3598 @HardPass4 No, this is disingenuous. There's a huge difference between "Sometimes I'm willing to pay more for quality local" and "I'm willing to pay more for quality local (normanrockewell.jpg)" *Particularly* when you're saying it as a political statement at the outset of a trade war.

@DefenderOfBasic This is ~equivalent to suggesting that there is no such thing as self-deception (or frankly, deception at all) - surely that's not something you believe?

@Altimor yeah, couldn't possibly be that they have different ideas than you about what's actually important in life, and they think your values are immature and kind of shit.

@JoshuaKushner now you know how artists, writers, journalists, researchers, content creators of all stripes might feel when *their* work is used to make the data that trains the models that make the money, and they get nothing from it, not gratitude nor even acknowledgement.

@larsiusprime People simply don't listen to all the smart things ASI tells them. We don't care. Instead, ASI is merely employed as an even more intractable source of tribal confirmation bias in pursuit of our stupid ideological priors. The new gods have no purchase on our old human natures

@RobertMSterling This isn't "leverage". This is having the biggest stick & deciding you want to hit people with it to make them do what you want Other administrations had at least some desire to build relationships, have friends etc. This one only likes bullying This is how you lose soft power

@JoshFriesen12 @hankgreen no, it's not about the message, or the messaging. Forget about the content. The content doesn't matter. It's about vibes, perceived in-group belonging, and perceived trust.

@extradeadjcb Women don't need you to speak on their behalf about what they want and don't want.

@ipsc_traveler @BrittPettibone I would go further and say it's fictional. The Germans I know get seriously mad at all these losers who try to tell them that their "German pride has been stolen" or they've been "wrongfully conditioned to feel guilty". Utter nonsense spoken by know-nothing culture warriors

@BrittPettibone "I visited Germany before, so now I know all about how all Germans really feel on a deep unconscious level" lady, you know absolutely nothing

@eshear oh? like, what other renamings did you find unfortunate, for example? I find them to be nearly universally kickass (not to mention being more culturally and historically relevant/interesting)
