I’ve so much admiration and respect for these women. It takes a huge amount of courage to stand up against the privileged cry-bullies enabled by our politicians.
Stonewall spent a decade lobbying universities, political parties, state bodies etc., to condemn as transphobic those who recognise the conflict between women’s rights & men’s demands, yet here is its chair saying exactly that.
Women who said the same lost their livelihoods.
The majority of Saturday’s anti-woman protestors were men. You can see in this short clip how excited they were to call women nazis, bitches, cunts, TERFs.
Saturday’s anti-women protestors was for men by men.
If ‘Queer’ was truly reclaimed, it would have been done by those most stigmatised by its use as a slur: gay men who came of age during the AIDS crisis - not by wealthy American academics, white middle class teenagers and heterosexual couples.
I really, really hate the ‘Karen’ thing. It barely hides a deeply rooted disdain & loathing many men feel towards women over the age of 35. I’m sick of seeing women dismissed as a ‘Karen’, ‘bitch’, ‘TERF’ or worse. New ways to mock, isolate & rage against women are always found.
Proclaiming trans-id men were at the forefront of providing care to gay men during the AIDS crisis is a cruel rewriting of history & a massive slap in the face to the many lesbians who bravely took on the task when others refused.
Why are so few of us standing with women now?
There was a huge amount of support from passersby at today‘s
@ProtestSilenced
outside Leinster House.
Threats and intimidation tactics from TRAcists no longer work like they used to.
These lads don’t think Amanda Abbington should be on
#Strictly
& they’re willing to insult her to make their point.
I wonder if they were always at the forefront of feminist discourse & women’s rights activism.
Or, perhaps, they’re raging misogynist hiding being “trans rights”.
Many men readily find injustice in women misgendering men, but not in men raping women in prisons; not in men in women’s refuges; not in men pushing women off the podium; not in men usurping women’s resources and legal rights; not in men’s rage against women who say no.
Why?
Trans-exclusionary isn’t a synonym for anti-trans.
Women don’t owe men inclusion in their feminism, activism, politics, bedrooms, resources, & spaces.
It’s egomaniacal to deny women their right to organise without men, to deny women agency & autonomy as fully realised humans.
No one outside of Twitter would ever believe me if I told the the National Women’s Council of Ireland publicly condemned a decision made to increase the safety and fairness of women in sport.
Is there any adult woman who primarily refers to herself as a ‘girl’?
Because I see enough men in their twenties, thirties, forties and fifties doing it, and it’s gross.
A ‘non-binary’ Irish musician was interviewed for RTÉ Radio 1 this morning. The rationale behind their identity:
1. distancing themselves from poor treatment in male-dominated musician circles;
2. disliking the clothes they were expected to wear growing up.
Guess their sex
I’m back after a five week break to express the absolute rage I feel towards the Irish wokebros lamenting the murder of Ashling Murphy while actively ostracising Irish feminists who opposes weakening the few safeguards against male violence they have.
Remember the backlash
@arobertwebb
received when he tweeted very, very mild criticism of Mermaids and showed some support for

@bindelj
and
@boodleoops
? Naturally PN called it an attack, completely ignoring the abuse he received.

Nipple discharge from a man’s self-induced galactorrhea can in no way be healthy for a child? How is it even possible without the necessary anatomy?
Has anyone here made a decision as a teenager that they still live by today? Any beliefs you still feel as passionately about? I’m in my early 30s and I’ve changed my mind so much in the last five years, let alone since I was a teenager!
JKR is one of Britain’s most prolific philanthropists but I guess it doesn’t matter if you don’t think a man in a dress is a woman.
Decades of charity & millions of pounds disregarded because she believes women can assert their own boundaries, because she didn’t prioritise men.
They protested women reciting poetry; women’s testimony of abuse at the hands of church & state; an adolescent leading a sing song; trade unionists & lifelong lefties; they protested survivors of sexual assault; they shouted down women recovering from medical experimentation.
Amazing support and crowd at the protest against transphobia. A massive well done to
@DubTrans
@GCNmag
& all the advocates. Transphobia has no place here in Ireland or anywhere!
#TransRightsAreHumanRights
It’s a bit rich to say the existence of trans-id people is being debated when the conversation was explicitly about the removal of *women* from the Irish Statute Book.
There’s nothing offensive about calling a man a man.
When men like Owen Jones are offended by women like
@RosieDuffield1
, it’s not her words but her non-compliance that they’re offended by.
“Transwomen” are men and no linguistic, medical, or legal interference can change that.
@helenstaniland
What’s the difference between Monty telling women they can’t have single-sex spaces and other men telling women they can’t have abortions? Both have an objection to women’s rights and actively try to remove them. Certainly closer to the truth than GC women being anti-women.
Please tell me someone else in Ireland saw Una Healy and Zainab Elguzouli fail spectacularly trying to refer to Sam Smith as they/them throughout a five minute segment on his music.
Zainab apologised to Una after being corrected. “Don’t worry” replies Una, “he’d understand”
India Willoughby, unsurprisingly, hits a revealing new low. Long hair and a scalpel doesn’t hide what this is: an old, rich white man punching down on a woman of colour,
@estherk_k
So 5 women who would be otherwise nominated under the previous British Female Solo Artist award are discarded to keep a few blokes happy?
Not to worry, woman-gender will still be represented by Sam Smith who “thinks like a woman…puts on weight in places women put on weight.”
There’s been more outrage and disgust over a women’s brunch than the thousands of death threats, rape threats, false allegations, and unsolicited sexual content thrown at

over the last two years. It is truly a man’s world.
Sounds like he’s about to announce a return to wrestling … I wonder what category this 6’2”, 200lb+, 45 year old man expects to fight in 🙄
Porn fries the brain
Last three news items on six one news have been about the murders of two women and the gang rape of another. All discussed separately with what they have in common remaining unspoken.
Kellie Harrington, a working class lesbian, is an excellent role model for hundreds of thousands of working class kids.
It’s tyrannical to slander people who don’t share your Americanised, elitist beliefs & imply only people with the beliefs you hold can “unite the nation”.
Kellie Harrington is no role model for anyone, particularly young people. Transphobic AND racist to boot. Much sounder people around to unite the nation 🤷🏻♀️🇮🇪
All-Women Shortlists are supposed to help women overcome some of the structural issues causing low levels if representation in Parliament.
What is achieved by adding a rich, white man to the shortlist?
@keinegewalt
This was Celebrity Big Brother, 2018. He was sent in during when the theme was Year of the Woman and he was, rightly, the first to be evicted.
Is it any surprise the same people who demand we use the preferred pronouns of child-abusers and rapists are so callous about the denial of life-saving surgery to a woman who refuses to submit to those demands?
Reduxx has obtained a police report showing that two female students were assaulted by a trans-identified male student in the girls' restroom at Edmond Memorial High School in Oklahoma.
Both of the girls sustained injuries to the eyes, face, and head.
@RebeccaMKBull
@RoLaren0117
Sex is the only protected characteristic that people in positions of power and influence dare to show so much hostility towards. What else other than profound sexism emboldens someone to publicly announce their intention to ignore parts of the EqA just cos they don’t like it?
Why has An Garda Síochána granted permission to anti-women protesters whose stated intention is to interfere with women’s constitutional right to free expression & incite violence against them?
The feelings of men trouncing the rights of women YET AGAIN.
“…In the really dark hours, in the really dark times, we’ll look up and see Beth [in the public gallery of Scottish Parliament] and the people beside her (sic), and it was for Beth… that we were doing it, that we were fighting it”
I’ll refrain from my own commentary 😏
TRAs have just had our video of Alex Cole-Hamilton singing the praises of violent serial abuser Beth Douglas taken down from YouTube on a bogus copyright claim. This is what they don't want you to see.

And no doubt this fetishistic experiment is celebrated. Contrast that to the immense social pressure breastfeeding mothers are put under to produce healthy breast milk through dieting, exercise, supplements and forgoing many foods, medicines, topicals etc. Rank misogyny
Gay men in the 80s never had the overwhelming support of cultural, medical, corporate, academic, & political power centres
No other minority has been as well funded
A countercultural critique is nothing like the crushing oppression gay men faced
A wildly distorted comparison!
Unsurprising to see ‘Mammies for Trans Rights’ leap to defend the placement of violent male sex offenders in the women’s wing of Limerick Prison, including deeply misogynistic Barbie Kardashian.

I thought the message was rather obvious: wasting limited time and resources on superficial measures impedes more meaningful work from being done. For example, adding a ramp to the entrance would help people with disabilities, the elderly, and parents with prams, while alienating
@Variety
There are no plans to put men with breast implants into internment camps. Men in wigs are not being oppressed. It’s surreal fetish-fantasy from a group of (mostly straight, white) adult men who get off on the idea of being a girl. What they want is not comparable to actual civil
Claire Byrne talking about Roe with an American abortion clinic practitioner and neither of them mention women, “people” and “person” is used instead.
It’s surreal how quickly and compliantly “woman” was dropped from the conversation.
From lobby group Trans Actual’s definition of transphobia:
“Claiming there is a "conflict" between trans people's human rights and those of any other group.
This is a classic tactic of haters, fascists and others and has been used throughout history.”

There’s almost always an outsized and performative response whenever there’s a tragic event involving a trans identified person, this is how you know there’s no epidemic of trans murders or suicides - there’s no way there wouldn’t be a spectacle made of it.
Charlie Flanagan and Helen McEntee, consecutive Irish Ministers for Justice, must be only delighted that much of the Irish media didn’t find anything newsworthy about three extremely violent men being placed in the women’s wing of Limerick Prison during their watch.
We’re often asked to believe that for hundreds of years it was too dangerous to come out as trans… until ~8yrs ago when thousands of mostly middle-class adolescent girls found the courage to come out en masse despite a majority of every other demographic remaining closeted.
“Cis Privilege” is a sick joke.
The world is designed for men, culture promotes and rewards men’s interests, gender is there to serve the needs of men - all at the expense of women. All men benefit from that, even men on the fringe, while all women are disadvantaged by it.
Laurel Hubbard debuted in the female category in 2017, and posted a new world record in the W35/super heavyweight category at the IWF Masters that same year.

Annie Hoey, elected to the Seanad in 2020 on the 20th count with 63 first preference votes, does not speak for everyday Irish men and women. The majority of us do not support politically-motivated witch hunts or attempts to silence women.
The
@WingsScotland
story is stuck in my head. It shows what we’ve seen dozens of times before: how gender ideology provides cover for misogyny, narcissism, & abuse but also how it allows mediocre, nondescript men to replace their social obscurity with relevance and influence.
You can’t call yourself a gender abolitionist or GNC & use they/them pronouns.
Deciding you’re neither man nor woman bc of how you dress is peak gender conformity. Your identity depends on maintaining regressive, outdated right-wing stereotypes & bogus gender essentialism. Soz.
@HJoyceGender
Compare that story to the other stories in the series and it becomes clear how differently men and women view their bodies. Males have the privilege of being flippant with regards to the importance of their bodies and how it informs societies response to them.
This is a profoundly moving series, but Juno’s self-indulgent, superficial story sticks out like a sore thumb. His story could not be more different than the women’s stories, which are a painful reminder of how patriarchal oppression is undoubtedly sex-based.

A gay child; a non-binary child; a trans child; an asexual child; and a bisexual child. In a family of seven, the only “straight cisgendered” person is the father.
What are the chances?
