2.5 years, 235 songs spanning multiple genres and topics, here's a collection of my music (written mostly with Lauren). Having stopped sharing songs I wrote for over a decade before this, so glad to be regularly writing since ev started ๐
The Israeli tv sketch with Joost Marina Nemo and Bambie being kidnapped and made to beg for forgiveness... it's giving vindictive 12 year old outcast writing kidnapping fantasy fanfic about their classmates on ao3. this has all the humour of an oncology waiting room ๐
The Eurovision reference group looks like this:
๐ญ๐ท๐ฉ๐ช๐ฎ๐ธ๐ฎ๐น๐ฎ๐น๐ต๐น๐ช๐ธ๐ธ๐ช๐ธ๐ช๐ฌ๐ง
Huge geographic imbalance with only one "Eastern" country out of 10. This bias reflects in many ways in what the esc does. We need a new exec supervisor and an actually representative set of contest leaders
Extremely disturbed behaviour
Criticise a war and get constantly harassed in Malmรถ, mัsgendered, slandered as an evil creature, have a channel make a comedy where you're kidnapped and gagged and have weirdoes fantasising over it...
Leave Bambie the fuck alone, go hifreann libh
Serbia has given us some of the best classic, folkloric music in
#Eurovision
... now, two years in a row, they're also bringing some of the freshest and most avant-garde proposals too. I love being a fan of this country, they never disappoint whatever they send. Hajde Srbijo ๐
TIL Nebulossa dedicated Zorra to "all the Manuelas Trasobares", referring to the first trans woman who served as a counsellor in Spain as an example of women's empowerment and the fight for equality and social advances ๐
Lithuania hadn't sent anything in their language for over 20 years, then we got 2 songs in Lithuanian in the last three years. Something shifted and we love to see that
Eurovision's official account liking a transphobic bigot calling a Jewish woman an anti-semite for criticising their censorship of pro-Palestinian voices... absolutely horrendous that these are the friends that the contest that has been part of the bedrock of my life is making
what is this eurovision
#turquoisecarpet
? we're not even seeing the artists entering or WALKING the carpet, we're not getting the atmosphere of the crowd, we're just getting short interviews INSIDE interspersed with a minute of random shots of buildings... who signed off on this?
Literally Salvador raised his voice to protect refugees (and they tried to censor him), he's one of the most outspoken pro-Palestinian voices amongst ESC winners, he has seen the ways ESC + the EBU can be rotted... we should be celebrating him not demonising him
isnโt โlove u & hate u at the same timeโ what we were all feeling about esc last week? i swear salvador sobral wonโt be able to open his mouth ever again without some annoying and insufferable eurofan yapping about he is the devil on earth
I can't believe Konstrakta thinks she'll no longer be famous by December. Queen will always be famous and her music and performance and iconic moments will be embedded in my mind from now til the end of time
Must absolutely suck to bring a lyrically complex non-English language song to Eurovision only for people to dismiss it as a joke or totally misrepresent what it means
Luke Black expressing how important the trans community is to him a few months back and then the camera cutting to someone holding the๐ณ๏ธโโง๏ธflag after his performance is so perfect ๐
She can't win but the televote did her much more justice than the fucking juries. Heart highkey broke ngl but glad she got a LOT of televote

Lines from this esc that are most likely to randomly pop up in my head:
๐ฑ๐น ฤIUTO TUTOO (x3)
๐ง๐ช When the world got me going crazy
๐ท๐ธ Hello? Game over
๐ฆ๐ฟ Tell me more about me you us
๐ฉ๐ช Blood and glitter, sweet and bitter, we're so happy we could die

Big defender of Lisbon 18, but this is a false aequivalency. In Lisbon, they knew in advance there'd be no screens, and worked around that accordingly. In 2022, the majority of delegations have been blindsided by not being able to use the led side of the sun offered previously.
it's a very neutral and professional response, but I've been told by one of my dearest friends in Israel that it has been seen as proof of Raiven being antisemitic... such a serious word thrown about so lightly :/
Good evening, folks!
32 jurors from various countries came together to reform the GRAPHIC DESIGN JURY for 2024!
We'll be rating the designs of this year's songs' cover art, let's see what will take the trophy! ๐
Actually fucking genius how a song got leaked in a way that made it look like it was going to be a disastrously produced joke entry only for the release day to come and everyone reรคlising that it's a slick production and a very witty and satirical track
Remember all this talk in December/January about how we were going to have a Eurovision with like 75% rock songs? I guess many delegations thought the same and figured 'well, let's stand out with a ballad' ๐
Ireland being one of the most pro-Palestinian countries in the world but getting misrepresented by this guy who equates a Palestinian guy just existing on the Eurovision stage as being as bad as a full on propaganda song... Ugh I can't
In times where many want awareness of trans people's existence + identity to vanish, trans day of visibility is even more crucial, celebrating being who we are despite the compulsion to hide. I am glad to finally be celebrating this day, finally visible myself, a trans woman ๐ณ๏ธโโง๏ธ
Moldova are about to SMASH the televote and for good reason... this is just a TOTAL explosion of pure, simple joy and their energy is contagious. I have heard this song hundreds of times and have NEVER not smiled listening to it, all my students adored it too

Imagine if Sweden and Finland draw first half as well as Spain and France, nightmare decisions would await whoever's doing the running order... idk why but I can vividly see this happening
Shit ain't adding up
If Joost did something sanctionable last night
How come he was in the flag parade?
How come they were setting up the stage for him?
Sanction would have stopped both before they happened surely?
So RUV basically claims that Heraโs amount of phone votes was so much larger than Basharโs, that even if you move all of Heraโs SMS votes to Bashar, she still wouldโve won
That just sounds a bit fishy to keep idkโฆ
funny how some folk had no issue with a swedish guy going to eesti laul with next to no connection to the country, but a guy with strong connections to Icelandic artists already and who's bothered to learn his song in icelandic is bad... anyway, Bashar you ate this up
Genuinely sad for Germany, a country with incredible musicians, a lot of diversity, artists with really original styles, and yet we get blandfests from them almost always. German NF should be one of the best in Europe, the wasted potential is IMMENSE
#dasdeutschefinale
I'd tag Af Sillรฉn but he blocked me years back for saying Sรฌ deserved to win ESC74
So instead ig I tag
@svt
and ask - was this really necessary? As a trans woman I always found ESC a safe space, the last place I'd expect 'heheh "woman" sound like man' jokes. How did you ok this?
Not the floating watermark ๐ญ
Imagine how tired we are, performing a song at a concert before ESC new year โ releasing it commercially! Pedestal was first released commercially on Oct 13 of this year on Fortune's child album.
Leave Aiko alone already
๐จ๐จ๐ฟWe found a video where the representative of the Czechia at Eurovision 2024, Aiko, violated one of the strictest rules of the competition. In the video, the singer performs her competition song at the Czech festival, which took place on June 23, 2023.

Bashar spending a moment to sing one of his favourite Icelandic songs.. a reminder that he's been involved with Icelandic artists for several years, he signed up to SVK before the October events, he has every right to be there! ๐
Other than Skeletons, this is my favourite song from Azerbaijan. It's just so sweet and nostalgic - and it's refreshing to see them sending something local for once. Hope they can defy the odds.
So few Balkan countries left in ESC, and yet sometimes it seems like the show producers wouldn't mind if they all went given the regularity with which ๐ท๐ธ and ๐ฆ๐ฑ get early and terrrrible spots in the orderr
Honestly, if I had my way, I'd just have them host Eurovision and add subtitles - you can't engineer chemistry and camaraderie like theirs, and I would love for all of Europe to get the Amadeus-Fiorello experience like we have
#Sanremo2022
And can people stop making serious situations always about eurovision? Ok it's mostly why we're on the damn bird app but people still making jokes about Maruv, asking how many points Russia will lose at ESC this year or saying if ๐บ๐ฆ win Moscow will host?? Ghoulish behaviour
The dialogue about Kรครคrijรค is extremely tiresome. He's extremely respectful towards all the other contestants. He bigs himself up but you'd need a sense of humour override to not see that it's IN CHARACTER banter
Brooke dragged Ireland towards contemporary ESC more than any artist in ages arguably...
She was unlucky enough not to make it and people already want to take us back and insist that Ireland can only do well with one type of song. They're wrong and she's right
๐ฎ๐ช "I think it is rather unfair to say we can only win with ballads."

has evolved since Ireland's heyday in the contest.
i Said it would be a serve when 90% of the tl was hating on it..
and it is indeed a serve, well-thought out, distinctive, grounded in Italian รฆsthetics, bravo once again RAI!

If I had five cents for every time Austria sent a song criticising the music industry to Eurovision, then I'd have only 15ยข, but it's still funny that it happened thrice
Her ignorance and lack of education are remarkable. Luke and Konstrakta represented their country with absolute distinction. It's really dangerously reductive to act like only one style can represent a country. Diversity is beautiful!
This had the makings of being a banner year, one where many major artists decided to step forward and represent their country. How many are regretting it now? I don't know what mental gymnastics ye are engaging in to not see it, but ye have certainly been brought into disrepute.
The EBU calls for all artists participating in this yearโs Eurovision Song Contest to be treated respectfully and condemns all abuse and harassment.

Maniลพa did NOT put thought and effort into bringing outfits FULL of cultural symbolism and meaningfulness only to get some people declaring her "Barbara Dex winner." Talk about a bad take.
a real shame that some people refuse to scratch beyond the surface level of a song and just dismiss it as meaningless, like what's happening with Cha Cha Cha right now. Not every song with a message hits you on the nose about it, upbeat party songs can be something deeper too
At this point, I have put up a thousand tweets about my love for Konstrakta and I could put up a hundred thousand more? Everything about In corpore sano is art of the highest degree and I am willing Serbia on to their second win with every fibre of my being. HAJDE

Monika Liu, whatever happens tonight, you will always be famous. She defied people in her own country who doubted folk would buy into a song in Lithuanian. She defied the qualification odds and an unfavourable running order. I hope she can defy expectations again

I actually personally don't think 2022 will be an especially bad year. What's happening is that we are having a banner year for many national finals and we're getting disillusioned with the number of robberies, but there are some quality tunes there
This is so heartwarming ๐. I think both Kรครคrijรค and Blanca have won over almost everyone they've met. Now I'm imagining them making a collaboration like Cha cha chEAEA ๐ญ
st. Pedro almost winning Benifest despite barely getting chosen by the internal selectors, Baby Lasagna winning Dora having not even been in the internal selectors' top 20... multiple countries need to shake up their recruitment
EBU banning the European flag รกnd the guy who went around singing about how beautiful the EU was in bringing us together over borders... their eurosceptic era
I've seldom seen someone as unwarrantedly demonised as Salvador. APD is timeless and he is a very compassionate person who used his platform during ESC to defend refugees and, once again, is on the right side of history defending Palestine's right to statehood. Blessed winner.
