As someone who once was employed in a public setting while I was incarcerated... one I wasn't being paid two it helped me escape the hell of incarceration for a few hours a day. And the people at my job put away items for me to come get once I was released.

I worked cleaning for zero wages the state government offices and for a charity called the gleaners in Mississippi . I also cleaned state parks and highways. In very inhumane conditions and extreme heat. At times without adequate water and food.

That being said I still preferred it over being harassed by inmates or COs all day and felt safer working. Prison was a hellscape and the job at the gleaners was the best thing I had to remind me I'd be ok. But unpaid prison labor is wrong on all fronts.

My son has about 12 safe foods. That's it. He's been in food therapy. He's extremely underweight and I worry every day he's malnourished. My child can't even take medicines when he is sick and requires ivs or injections for simple illnesses.

My kid has a 504 plan so they helped him regulate and his teacher uses restorative practices in the classroom and said she'd educate the kids in her class about ARFID. that's super awesome but not everyone has that so if you're reading this today maybe talk to ur kids
