People need to do some research and invest some time in exploring her early-to-mid-1930s filmography. You can't watch a film like Alice Adams and claim that she's "just playing herself."
the fact that katharine hepburn gets criticised for sort of always playing herself and not having a lot of range is like yes kind of true but also my favorite performance of hers is from long day's journey into night and she's playing like. the opposite of herself.

I am generally anti-biopic but I don't understand why nobody has made a miniseries about the production of Super Mario Bros. Terry Runte's life story is fascinating enough to fill an entire episode and you'd get to see the producers reject Tom Hanks for not being a movie star.
