I painted Power Cut after reading Kropotkin's The Conquest of Bread, Graeber's Debt & Bookchin's Post Scarcity. It's my reflection on living under neoliberalism & debt peonage. An enforced quarantine of bodies & ideas. An ode to time, artistic guild solidarity & revolution.

Never forget how Israel treated the Warsaw Ghetto uprising hero Marek Edelman for supporting Palestinian struggle. Despite receiving the French legion of honour and Polands highest honor at th 65th commemoration, Israel refused to acknowledge him, a 'non-person' in Israel 1/

@HikariUber It's highlighting hypocrisy and has nothing to do with being "sad". It shows Zionism and the use of Holocaust trauma as political ideology rather than a genuine acknowledgment of antifascist struggle. I'm sure Marek would have worn it as a badge of honour.

In James Belich’s Myth Race and Identity in NZ he remarks that “Myths interact with theories 'above' and attitudes 'below', but can lead as well as be led by them”. And what intrigues Belich is the pan-Māori assimilation of the racist theory of The Aryan Māori. 3/

9/Uncle John( Hoani Takakopiri Asher) (pictured aged 11 1934). In 2017 the Crown returned our hot springs acknowledging 150 years of racial injustice & theft. Although there is still mamae, it's the memory of cups of tea & caramel cakes at our uncles & aunties that endures.
