Some of you Bona “fans” need to check yourselves. I’m seeing a lot of ugly comments. These student athletes have poured their heart and soul into this program. Show some respect or get lost.
Jalen Adaway will go down as one of my favorite Bonnies of all time. Bona fans will echo that sentiment. He completed this starting lineup. You could count on him every night to bring it. I’ve never seen a more selfless player.
Salute to
@Kloft0
. I remember when Jay graduated, everybody thought there would be a void at PG. In comes the kid from Jersey. We replaced one legend with another. The definition of a floor general.
It was easy to see how special
@Sh00n_
was as a Freshman. The gangly kid with a freakish wingspan was a monster in the making. He might not be Bob Lanier or Andrew Nicholson, but he dominated in a different way. One of the greatest to ever wear the Brown & White.
Dear
@BonniesMBB
,
Thank you. In a day and age where everything is constantly in flux, you guys remained consistent and steadfast. This season took on a different meaning for all of us. See you in November!
Sincerely,
Bona Nation 🐺
Starting this account and watching it grow has been a blast. I try to be optimistic and level headed, but today stings. I think we all need a little break to clear our minds.
Thank you, Bona Nation.
🤎
Some recognition is in order for Schmidt’s staff. Coach Curran, Neal, and Lowe worked overtime this offseason. Basically rebuilding a roster from scratch. They did an A+++ job.
Thank you,
@D_Banksiii
. After that run with St. Peter’s, you could’ve went anywhere. You chose St. Bonaventure. That means a lot. I’m happy you could end your Bona career on a high note and give us one last memory to cherish. That performance vs Loyola was epic.
No matter what was going on in the world or our personal lives, we had the Bonnies to look forward to. This bond goes beyond basketball. These 5 guys will forever have a place in our hearts. They can hold their heads high knowing they represented St. Bonaventure to the fullest.
Holy Schmidt! I don’t think any of us were expecting a win tonight. I just wanted to see this team fight. They scratched and clawed their way to a victory. What an effort.
Jalen Adaway is one of my all time favorite human beings. The year he had to sit out, he could be seen enthusiastically cheering on his teammates from the bench. He’s brought that same energy on the court. Absolutely indispensable.
Watching the replay of the game, Coulibaly’s play really stands out. Bonnies didn’t skip a beat when Osun went to the bench. Coulibaly was physical, boxed out, grabbed boards, and played great defense.
🇲🇱
I love how Bona Nation has rallied around this team. We’re all fully immersed and invested in this NIT run. It might not mean much to anybody else, but it means the world to us.
This might not be the final 4 we wanted, but it’s the final 4 we needed. 3 straight road wins. 3 different time zones. Defied all odds. I couldn’t be prouder.
Schmidt deserves all the praise he gets, but he can’t do it alone. Let’s show some love to his staff.
@Coach_Curran
is Schmidt’s right hand man. Along with
@TrayWoodall1
@neal_sean
@SBUMattyP
. Nobody works harder behind the scenes than these guys.
Dom’s 3. Kyle’s free throws. Shoon’s block.
This is exactly why I was looking forward to the NIT. These guys deserve to go out as winners. They’re creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Every team needs a Jaren Holmes. One tough dude. This NIT run wouldn’t have been possible without him. In 3 years, he was a key contributor to a lot of wins.
Detroit Muscle 💪🏽
As we prepare for the NIT, let’s not pout. This season wasn’t all bad. I’m looking forward to another chance to pack the RC and cheer this team on. Let’s make the best of it.
I only have 1 regret when it comes to Mika Adams Woods and Charles Pride. It’s that we only got to watch them for one season. They made the Bonnies a better team and stepped up in the clutch on several occasions. Thank you,
@_shoey3
and
@Sourrtv
!
Man, I think a lot of us owe an apology to Daryl Banks. He’s the definition of mental toughness. Struggled mightily to start the season, but stuck with it. It paid off tonight. He earned the right to be the hero.
Tomorrow will be emotional. These 5 seniors have left an indelible mark on this school and community. While their careers may be coming to an end, they’re far from finished.
#NotDoneYet
When
@1DomoD
committed to Bonas, I thought we were getting a scorer. Turns out, we got something much more valuable. A Swiss Army knife. Such a well rounded player. He really bought into the team concept and flourished.
I don’t think all 5 Seniors are staying, but I also don’t think all 5 are leaving. It will be interesting to see how things play out. I’ll always be on team
#OneMoreYear
.
Jalen Adaway has gone from a role player, to a legit go to guy. His last 3 games:
22 points 5 rebounds
16 points 11 rebounds
13 points 16 rebounds
Baller.
One guy you can’t point the finger at? Jalen Adaway.
Through 8 A10 games, Jalen is averaging 18 PPG while shooting a ridiculously efficient 57% from the field.
Mr. Consistent
My favorite play from last night? Jaren Holmes draining a 3 ball. He deserved to see one go down. 13 points and 6 assists. A huge contributor to the W.
I’m so proud of this team. It would be easy for them to mope to Colorado and get blown out. They fought tooth and nail to continue their season. Gritty.
I watched this team lose to Canisius 2 weeks ago. I could see the talent was there. I didn’t think it would come together this quickly. They’ve improved by leaps and bounds in a short period of time.
Great to see
@ChadVenning
reaping the rewards of his hard work. You can tell he’s put a lot of hours in the gym and weight room working on his game/body.
The Bonnies have been trending downward since Charleston. They bottomed out today. I don’t know who that team was. Unrecognizable. Soft and lethargic. No fight whatsoever. I still love ‘em, but wow. They need to do some serious soul searching.
Last note for the night
Jalen Adaway is the unsung hero for this team. So consistent and steady. Seems like you can pencil him in for 14 and 7 every game. The definition of a team player.
Thank you
@Coach_Curran
!! This man worked 24/7 365 to make the Bonnies better. He was responsible for bringing in and developing a lot of talent over the years. It will be weird not seeing him on the bench or in the huddle next season.
If you’ve ever lingered in the Reilly Center after a game, you’d see how much these players are adored. Kids flock to them. They’re true role models. Somebody young fans can look up to.
Barry Evans is only a Sophomore, but is on the fast track to becoming one of the most beloved Bonnies of all time.
4 points 7 rebounds 6 assists 2 steals 1 block tonight.
Difference maker. 🦴
As always, I want to thank
@BonniesMBB
. 20 wins is nothing to scoff at. This team is what gets me and us fans through the winter months. The Reilly Center is like a second home to me. I will be back in November for more. The future is bright.
💯
Barry Evans is my favorite player on this roster. I think he’s in it for the long haul and committed to the process/grind. He started 21 games as a true Freshman and has a bright future ahead of him. 🦴
Is there a more well liked Bonnie than Courtney Stockard? That performance vs UCLA cemented him as a Bona legend. Some guys shy away from the pressure and bright lights. Stockard was built for it.
LSU was a tough draw. One of the most talented teams in the tournament. It was an adjustment. There was definitely some stage fright in the first half. They will grow from this. It doesn’t erase what they accomplished this year.
🤎💯
Duane Thompson’s post is exactly what Bona fans needed to see today. A young man genuinely excited to be a Bonnie and continue his good journey. We need more of that energy moving forward. Let’s bring in players that share his enthusiasm and want to build something special.
Over the years, Bona has had some stud Freshmen. Nicholson, Adams, and Lofton come to my mind. I can’t recall a young wing as polished or poised as Yann. Carries himself like a Senior on the court.
I’ve never admired a player more than Courtney Stockard. The definition of perseverance.
Thank you
@cstock_15
!!! This was the first of many clutch plays you made in the brown & white.
Bonas should do a better job promoting the fact that
@LethalShooter__
was a Bonnie. What a story he is. Perfected the art of shooting and is now well known in the NBA community.
