It was apparent today that folk had travelled from outside of the York area to see the SEO at the Tip. Can we remind everyone that travel outside of your local area is not currently allowed. Nice as the owls are, it's hardly a twitch and there's a whole year to tick them.

A great evening walk at Wheldrake Ings this evening led by Duncan and Jono. Thirty of our club members were treated to views of hunting Hobbies, Pintails, Icelandica Black-tailed Godwits, Cuckoo and a Ruff. The lucky few saw c18 Whimbrel drop into roost at dusk.

With the help of the guys at Aberdeen University I've managed to track the Lesser Whitethroat species which was in my garden last week to a Bird rung at Bempton cliffs this autumn. Its a Blythi. An armchair tick in more than one sense.
A Hoopoe in Stamford Bridge today at Huntsman's Lane, favouring the front lawns of houses at the 50+ end and going into Forrester's walk. Please be aware that this is a very quiet residential road and be respectful of residents.

This bird fed back and forth between Wheldrake and Elvington before last been seen at Bank Island at 11:00 when confirmed as Pallid Swift! A first for the area!
