@CombatTherapist I’m a judoka that recently started wrestling . Did bjj for a couple years as well. Most ppl in bjj started with it and past “prime” age. For a former wrestler judoka sambo guy etc your body seems more conditioned to it. I’ll do bjj again when I can’t do competitive judo anymore

@ergasster @charliemarty688 @IgnacioLostorto @CombatTherapist training competitively yes more than bjj for sure. Judo also has more techniques that if u do then wrong or at the wrong time you’ll injure urself. Even after learning to fall depending on how hard you train throws can still fuck u up. Getting landed on after a hard throw etc

@ergasster @charliemarty688 @IgnacioLostorto @CombatTherapist You’re required to take so many falls before seeing any notable progress in judo typically. Competition style judo is honestly hardcore conditioning and rough falls (even with Ukemi) . I’ve done judo and wrestling practices btw

@Dazzleox The manipulating the grounded rule . I’m unsure if it was explained to me incorrectly or what exactly it means

@ErnieStrot54375 @JiujitsuOtter @lakustabjj Nothing more wonderful than the sound of a body falling from a strong hip throw

@KenPwersFan The ego heavy guys yea. I have a friend that’s been a terminal brown belt for over 5 years and he recently texted me excited cuz he was thrown only once in practice. He looks for counters and moves like a glacier . It works until it doesn’t.

@ErnieStrot54375 @JiujitsuOtter @lakustabjj A fair number of bjj players aren’t really cross training judo or wrestling. They’re just “wrestling” or doing “judo” with other bjj guys under bjj rules. Which are to really different and fine for their purposes tbh.

@BjjTip IMO getting used to the intensity and developing a “killer instinct” is a thing. Gentler ppl are told their whole life don’t be aggressive but in comps u get to ignore all that. After a while even if ur a passive person u can flip the switch so to speak

@ErnieStrot54375 @JiujitsuOtter @lakustabjj I kinda disagree. From a martial standpoint sure. As a sport no. Because BJJ’s biggest selling point is literally anyone even those with 0 athletic ability relative to other combat sports can do it. The number of falls to even be a mid judo player IMO isn’t worth it for bjj
