Amara La Negra is very Caribbean. Her song ā€˜What a Bam Bamā€™ fuses Dancehall and Reggaeton effortlessly. I understand that she wants to be mainstream and explore other genres, but Caribbean music seems like a great genre for her to really own.Sheā€™d sound great doing Soca in Spanish.

I understand this take. But I feel as if Carnival is an integral part of our culture that should remain accessible to the majority of Caribbean, esp Afro Caribbean people. As costume prices increase, it's apparent that the target audience for carnival is not WI people.

Also regarding costume price, I will say it again. Carnival is a LUXURY. It is not a need, it is not a commodity. There is a premium price for it. If the price seems "unreasonable for what you get". Don't go. It's that simple.
