Change the curriculum from one where children see no relevance and are passive learners to one where they choose what to learn and have agency of their learning 👇🏽 @BeckyFrancis7

@fuss91895 @LBC @NickFerrariLBC Multiculturalism is in the DNA of British people as there’s a growing population of mixed heritage children. I would be interested to know what you see as culture and values of the UK and how multiculturalism is ‘destroying this culture’?Is mandatory alcohol part of this culture?

@fwhitt246 Absolutely not Frankie ! DM me if you wish to discuss - flawed & seriously wrong if grades during inspection indicated ‘ good’ with complete reversal following inspection. It means evidence base couldn’t support the grades and QA reader plus senior HMI did a 360 degree reversal

@Edmund_B_W @AndrewDMorrish @Julespg @kennygfrederick @AnnaFazack1 Exactly ! As former HMI & now KHDA inspector in Emirates a world of difference exists between the two- even Wales & NI far better. I wrote this chapter to emphasise OFsted’s arrogance & inability to look at best practices. Note senior leaders been there decades so no change!

@suzyg001 @michael_merrick Education and the curriculum in England are inappropriate for at least one third of children who fail so my view is change what’s not working and inspire children to want to go to school .

@SohailSNAhmed Reparation from whom to whom? I was born in Zanzibar; market place for black slaves sold to Omani Arabs by African tribal chiefs and to Portuguese & British for 500 years! Slavery existed in Zanzibar until 1909.

Reparation from whom to whom? I was born in Zanzibar; market place for black slaves sold to Omani Arabs by African tribal chiefs and to Portuguese & British for 500 years! Slavery existed in Zanzibar until 1909. Decolonisation of curriculum is not black & white but nuanced.
Britain spent half its treasury to free slaves. The loan we took out in 1834 do so (we had to pay the slave owners) we only paid back fully in 2014. We freed 800,000 slaves and even policed the seas to capture slave ships to free the slaves onboard. (1/2)

@Dotmay47 Thank you for your insightful comment - spot on ! We just need the curriculum review Cttee and Ofsted to have a joint understanding of this! @BeckyFrancis7

@calucas16 @Doug_Lemov Couldn’t agree more - interesting …. ‘cold silence’ from @Doug_Lemov on how he justifies ‘ cold calling ‘ !! 😅

@Gerontius1 Informative & amusing to see their bewildered reactions but will never happen. HMI & OIs object as this is insider info regardless of HMCI’s claims about transparency! Also training is usually online anyway & public/schools get a watered down version.

@calucas16 @Doug_Lemov Well said @calucas16 ! Lemov’s methods absolutely not innovative- all teachers use different ways to ensure recalcitrant pupils engage. Real issue is if they’re not engaging it’s because the curriculum is inappropriate or they can’t access or don’t want to access. So what then?

Well done @DanielKebedeNEU for calling out excesses. Please request @Ofstednews to bring back the value for money judgement we had when I was HMI -the vfm judgement is still there in FE ! It’s tax payers money so stakeholders needs to know the quality & cost of education.
"I know of another trust where £90,000 was spent on providing Teslas for their senior leadership team. So, yes, I think, accountability at that top level would be welcome." @DanielKebedeNEU gives a clear message to MPs: financial mismanagement in academy trusts cannot continue.
