I did not anticipate my own peers, friends, or colleagues openly mocking and being gleeful of a difficult launch.
Delighting in the failure of others, no matter how you feel towards a company, seems mean spirited.
I feel sad, confused, and disappointed.
I try to keep things positive, I really do. But I am human, I have feelings.
Seeing people I looked up to saying things like ‘They deserved this’ ‘Now their resumes are tainted lol’ ‘what fucking idiots’ etc have, truthfully, been the only things to bother me.
Welcome new Activision colleagues and friends, while the news is fantastic and I’m excited to see you join the family, I have one thing to say and it’s fuck Bobby Kotick from the bottom of my heart <3
If you’ve been recently let go or are currently working at RT and want to leave, but are unsure of where to go, I will be happy to do portfolio reviews/connect you with others/share job positions/ anything I can do to help!
Thank you for these past 9 years, Arkane Austin.
I don't have the words to express the devastation I feel, but I do know that the people are what made the studio special - the kindest, most compassionate people I've ever known.
I adore you Arkane, thank you for everything.🧡🖤
Redfall is my first game that I’ve worked on from the start as an environment artist 🥺
It’s insane our baby is finally out there. It took lots of blood, blood, and blood (did I mention blood?) Can’t wait for y’all to see more.
Normally I don’t quote retweet folks stupid takes, but it’s a little worrisome that you’re apparently in the industry and saying this kind of shit about women. This weird little mentality that every woman needs to look feminine and/or fuckable needs to stop.
I’ve been in Austin for the past few days to catch up with fellow Arkanites and to see the studio one last time.
I captured this photo at the best possible time - goodbye Arkane🧡🖤
My first visit to the Blizzard campus in 2018 vs My first day working at Blizzard in 2024 🎉
Happy to announce that I’ve joined Blizzard as a UI Artist on Overwatch!
Please enjoy the final patch for Redfall 🧛🏻♀️
So many incredible people worked tirelessly to not only preserve our game with offline mode, but to give our players a proper farewell 🧡🖤
Game Update 4 is available now and features Offline Mode, ReVamped Neighborhood and Nest systems, Single Player Pausing, and more.
Learn more about the update here:
Five years of blood, sweat, and more blood have culminated in the release of Redfall.
It’s exciting to see folks dive into the game, share their thoughts, both positive and negative, and having feedback!
Thank you for playing ❤️
(now I’m gonna sleep for five years)
Just a little pro tip for folks out there, if you have ‘aspiring game developer’ maybe don’t be rude or insulting to a person that’s in the industry you want to enter? Calling me ‘brain dead’ doesn’t exactly make me want to recommend you or help you, lol.
The IT department at ZeniMax is unmatched.
Me: "Hey guys, my Wacom pen died, but the one that would suit me isn't compatible with my current tablet :/'
Them: "Do you want a new tablet? We could try to get the 27QHD Touch if you want'
Me: 👁️👄👁️
My fav thing about game dev is finding an absolute bonkers bug, posting about it in chat, and the chorus of 'SHIP IT' erupts like the seagull scene from Finding Nemo
‘Can’t believe an Xbox dev would call out a fan smh’ do you honestly think game developers are invested in the obsession of pitting studios/hardware against each other like the rest of y’all?
Hello
#MeetTheDev
- I'm Sadie! I've been in this industry for five years.
Previously, I was QA for Bethesda Game Studios, BGS Austin, and I'm currently an Environment Artist at Arkane Studios Austin.
I've worked on ESO, Wolfenstein: TNO, Evil Within, Doom, Prey, Prey:Mooncrash
I started at ZeniMax under Bethesda when I was just 20 years old. I celebrated my 31st birthday this year - ZeniMax and Arkane are all I've known my entire career in games. Devestated doesn't even begin to describe how I feel.
I am available for: UI Art, 2D Art, Env Art <3
You know you’ve really started your new studio when you, a white male game dev, take legitimate criticism about the lack of diversity in your hiring and turn it into a shit joke.
Surely a solid start for your company and in no way will come back to bite you in the ass 👍🏻
I don't want to be a mom, I want to be the cool aunt that randomly shows up and gives your kids 20 bucks and questionable life advice and drives off on her motorcycle with her wife, where's my holiday for that
I’ll never forget my first year working at Arkane - our Principal Gameplay Engineer looked me dead in the face and said “you’ve been alive for as long as I’ve worked in this industry” and then she offered me a piece of cantaloupe. I think of this often.
I’ve had this in my art backlog for a while, but finally completed this
@CowChop
piece, which was largely inspired by Hellboy’s 20th anniversary cover.
When I was 16, I interviewed at our technical high school for game design, which was an all male class. The professor said he’d love to see me in class so ‘the boys had someone to look at’ and that apparently the other girl in the class quit for ‘unknown reasons’.
When I was a student I tried to do a degree in games design, I was the only girl among 40 boys. They stared, they took bets behind my back on who would sleep with me first. They would pretend to hump me behind my back and two kindly offered to teach me what a "spitroasting" was.
Still looking for a studio to call home, but in the mean time I wanted to share the Community Standing UI icons I did from our final patch.
Thank you to our lovely UI team for allowing me the opportunity to work on it, I wish we had more time together!
Me: "I've never played Stardew Valley before, not sure I'm going to like it"
Me, browsing online @ 3am: "how the FUCK do I romance the goth one, why is there a god damn wizard, what are all these shrines?! , LINUS IS A FRIEND!!"
Just wanted to give a big thanks to
@Hundar
and
@CowChop
for giving me the opportunity to work with them - from designs, to friendships, to one too many whiskey chocolates, y'all have been very kind 🙏
Here's a thread of some designs I did (and some designs we never got to do):
I will not quote tweet the man with a bad QA take because he doesn’t deserve the recognition, but I will gladly say QA ARE HEROES and ARE developers who, in fact, create and shape games.
Just say you have a superiority complex mixed with gate keeping issues, christ.
My dad is a religious man, which is okay, but he likes to quote bible verses over my 'despicable behaviors' (tattoos, being bi, etc...) so I always hit him with the 'Exodus 20:14' - 'Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery' since he cheated on my mom and he shuts up right quick 😂
At Home Depot this morning and these maskless ‘rich on daddy’s money’ dudes were talking about my ass and how they’d fuck me so I turned and said ‘if you can’t do one basic thing like wear a mask right I pray for all those women’ and I’ve never seen a human wet blanket before.
Our Redfall x Any Means Necessary collaboration is now live!
@AMN_Clothing
is so amazing
If you're digging the in game graffiti and art, check out these shirts <3
Pro tip for people trying to get into the games industry: don't chat up someone solely because you want something from them (a recommendation, to use them as a reference for an application, free shit, etc...)
It's not a good look and people will remember that kind of shit.
7 years ago when we were working on The Evil Within, our entire building lost power and let me say there’s nothing more terrifying than testing a horror game and the power going out.
I research MANY handwriting styles when I make signage in video games just in case *one* person notices, but these guys thought they could post their cards that look like they were written by the same white girl from your hometown who sells essential oils and no one would notice.
We can’t express enough how grateful we are to serve you, Austin. Our officers have been working around the clock during these unprecedented times and thank everyone who took the time to write and make our day a little brighter.

🧡 Today is my five year anniversary at Arkane 🧡
I've been really fortunate to work with some of the most talented and incredible people. I've learned so much from the folks here and they've helped me not only grow as an artist, but as a person. Here's to more years!
