The new update for WidgetPod is live on the App Store.
• You can now set separate tap action for the artwork.
• Also added a new tap action: Refresh Widget, which you can use to refresh the widget if for any reason the widget has not updated.

Still shows up above ours for now, though we think it’s mostly because old results and metadata are cached on servers for a bit longer even after an app update is pushed. Let’s wait and watch.

Currently iOS doesn’t allow us to read data when audio is playing from any other app than Music app, and Spotify has special APIs to allow us to read the data, but to support other apps either those apps must provide those APIs or iOS must allow us to read the data it already has

For now, it is only compatible with Apple Music & Spotify, but if YouTube provides us with APIs we need, we’d surely consider adding support for it in the future. Thanks for asking.

The heart color is customisable inside of widget settings. Tap the “Like Status” row and change Color.

Sadly no update from Spotify’s end, we and some other developers have reported this to Spotify on Github and Spotify’s developers community forums but no update from their end so far, I hope someone is working on fixing this

Could you try and restart Spotify app or device, sometimes Spotify app is in a state where it doesn’t let us connect. Restarting helps.

Ah, I’ll take a look then, but the Spotify’s local API stops working for some reason, not sure if they’re doing it intentionally, since they can update the control centre only if the Spotify app is alive in the background. Anyway, I’ll test it and suggest them to fix this.

No, unlocking pro isn’t a requirement to use the Widget on the Home Screen. Only to use custom widgets and connecting Spotify, Pro is required.

Background Refresh is not what one may think it is, it doesn’t really keep the alive all the time in background, background refresh means app is woken up by iOS after some time and the interval is not fixed....

If you don’t open the WidgetPod app it wouldn’t update live regardless of low power mode, but if you do open the app once you start playing music, it’ll update the widget as long as music keeps playing.
In low power mode the update frequency does decrease if app is not open.

To support a service it requires special kind of APIs to read NowPlaying data from your service’s app, which not all services provide, so far to our knowledge Apple Music and Spotify do but not all. Hope you understand.

It’s no longer possible since iOS 16 prevents live updates to widgets, it used to be possible before iOS 16.

To be able to support any music service in WidgetPod, they must have a special API for developers to read what is playing in their App, in case of Gaana’s they don’t have such an API, so unfortunately we cannot support it. Hope you understand.

WidgetPod connects locally with Spotify, so if it’s not running, it cannot connect to .
About the next thing you mentioned, do you mean to mention jumping animation? If so that’s normal behaviour because of iOS limitation.

Possibly, I shall test on iOS 14.5, but usually it’s iOS that loads the list of apps that has widget support and we couldn’t dynamically disable/enable that list even if it we wanted, so probably something going wrong within iOS.

Anyway, I think in the update I’ll give the option to choose between icon styles and even when using the style which shows the app icon, I’ll allow ability to change opacity and see if reducing opacity helps you achieve a satisfactory appearance.

While those white icons look fine in your screenshots, there are many cases where the white blends with the image and it’s hard to see the player icon, this is why we had a special style. We don’t natively understand Japanese, we used translator.

We already resolved this for you via email but for anyone else reading this and has Apple Music connected to WidgetPod, if and when this happens launching Apple Music app before WidgetPod will fix it for you. Sadly, it’s due to a bug in internal iOS APIs.

It seems the issue has been common with iPhone 11 users, all the users who have reported this issue so far have been on iPhone 11. I’ll take a look at what’s causing this and submit a fix. Thanks for the report.

Try and restart your device. You will still need to use Refresh Widget Tap action since iOS 16 prevents live background updates for widgets, used to live update before iOS 16.

To update the widget live, the only way right now is the way we have done it. The app stays alive in the background if you open it after you start playing music and leave and it stay alive as long as music keeps playing and updates the widget live.
